An export lager, garnet in colour, with a clean roasted malt flavour that provides a full round bodied taste. A beer shaped by history and age-old traditional Czech methods.

Decent dark lager, dark nut brown with small tight beige head. Sweet malt aroma, taste again is malt, molasses, some nuttiness. Smoky, burnt taste lingers on the palate.

Bottle purchased from Babushka Russian deli in Walnut Creek. It pours a very dark brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is rather sweet and malty with some light molasses, raisins, dark bread and lighter notes of cocoa and roasted malt. Sweet, molasses and light roast for the most part. The flavor is pretty much the same. Sweet malt with brown sugar, molasses, raisins, bread, and light bitterness in the finish. A bit too sweet, but otherwise very satisfying.

Dark brown to ruby red color (cola-like), clear, thin film of lacing on top. Medium strong sweet aroma has dark bread, syrup, ripe dark fruits. Watery feel, no carbonation, over-sweet, malty sweet finish. Watery and dull.

Dark reddish brown, cola-coloured, clear beer with little beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, little roasted malts and little coffee. Flavor is first malty sweet, then dry, ashy and roasted with little bitterness in the short finish. Palate is little thinner than medium but doesnt appear as watery. Not bad for a czech dark lager.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2015 Tuoksussa paahteista makeutta ja mallasta. Hieman turhan vetinen, mutta paahteinen makeus on tsekkidunkeliksi kerrankin sopiva makuuni. Tss ei tietkseni ole kytetty makeutusaineita.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark brown with a thin, short-lived off-white head. Coffee and cream aromas, alongside a metallic note. Some chocolate. Taste has good medium roasted bitterness, and some more creamy sweetness. Good mouthfeel. Enjoyed it well enough.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2015 The new lable is much better I guess. Brown colour, one finger tall frothy head becoming a film then. Aroma of liquorice, caramel, roast, a hint of butter. Light to medium body. The density is exciting looking at the ABV. The mild sweetnes in flavour is blended with medium hoppy bitterness. The finish is hoppy enough and its pretty long. Later it grows to the similar aftertaste. Why didnt I notice the pearl? The revisiting of this stuff is really a surprise.

Dark Brown, Almost No Head, Spotty Lacing. Slight Toasted Aroma. Sweet Toasted Malt, Reminds me of Raisins, Light Toasted Bitter Finish. Rather thin Body, not Syrupy or Cloying. At 4.4% ABV, probably the lightest dark beer ever. Therefore easily Drinkable, Refreshing and Enjoyable. Its Like Kvass that has some Alcohol. Would like to try it fresh. Id say pretty good and would like to recommend it but scared to do it. There are no production or best before dates, so you can;t tell if it is fresh or two year old skunky drain pour. Try it at your own risk.
