2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This darker version of the Regent is slightly better than the lighter version I just had. It still has the same soft body. Similar in appearance with small head almost no lace, just darker in color. Aroma is malt and caramel. Flavor is like aroma. I guess I would have it again if there is nothing better.

500 ml bottle at home. Served in a glass I like to call a lager bulb. Dark mahogany with a tan head that disappeared. Prunes and farmyard in the aroma. Dried fruit, dusty cocoa, toffee flavours. Thin palate, light carbonation. O.K.

This has a pretty strong caramel base to it. The flavor is pretty sweet but overall is fairly tasty with a little hint of roasted malts.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle (Maxima, Riga)
Rich mahogany, brief tan head. Deep almost treacly caramelliness in the aroma. Slightly sticky palate, OK carbonation. Slightly marmitey yeastiness. Taste a bit metallic from the bittering hops. Finish dry, drying, and a bit metallic. Harsh, and unsatisfying.

Smells like mouldy bread. Surprisingly refreshing taste, with bitter coffee taste, not bad at all.

Bottle purchased at Sainsbury’s, London, UK. A nice, flavourful tmavy. Hops are present and accounted for, yet sweetness is there, too. Would drink again.
