2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 mikey (448) - farmington, USA - JAN 23, 2005
Poured a hazy yellow color with a fine white head. The nose was very wheaty. The taste was spicey with hops and had a definate wheat character. The finish had a sulfer harshness to it. This weiss was made with lager yeast which doesn’t do this beer any favors. The sulfur taste wasn’t enjoyable, more importantly there’s none of the creaminess that you would expect from hef or wheat ale.

On tap at the brewpub pouring pale opaque gold with white head. The modest aroma offers up some grainy malts and echoes of citrus from the lemon wedge that they put in the beer. The taste has a nice yummy grainy maltiness laced with mild sweet fruity esters and a touch of malt or caramel or butterscotch or something sweet into the finish.

on tap 7/22/10... hefe?
hazy very pale yellow color... it looks a lot like lemonade with a soft white head.
it smells very similar to sprite soda???... lemony refreshing and calcium mixed with wheat, flowers and some grass.
the flavor is a mix of wet wheat and a spicy dry finish along with the notes from the aroma.
it is crisp, medium bodied and ridiculously quaffable. neat-o. 7/3/7/3/15/3.5

Hazy deep gold pour. Aroma of grain, yeast, spice and citrus. Flavor is lightly tart wheat, spice, banana and lemon peel. Nicely done.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - DEC 14, 2010
Draft @ Brewpub: Clear hazy yellow, very light haze and very light in color, almost clear. The nose is dusty with wheat and very thin flavor. The flavor is funky with orange and sour wheat. Tangy flavor is in the finish too. Wheat lager, eh? Light and funky.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 digitalczech (6) - California, USA - JAN 5, 2010 does not count
This is not a typical Hefe or Hefeweizen. It’s a Weiss or White Beer. It does not have the banana or clove that dominates the Hefes out there. It took me off guard at first but wow is this a drinkable beer. In the summer with a garlic burger or fish and chips this beer is the perfect patio brew for those hot summer nights.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aubrey (3192) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - OCT 28, 2009
Draft at brewery, late summer ’09: Cloudy pale yellow. Light and refreshing with a lively carbonation. Fresh tasting. Very light sweetness. Pinch of tartness. Balancing bitterness. Pleasant beer.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 yemenmocha (657) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - AUG 15, 2009
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover is true... and the same goes for appearances with beer. Beautiful hazy straw color with good size rocky white head that lasts (even with lemon interference I might add, since I tried it with and without lemon).
Aroma - what aroma? I’ve sampled this at the brewery and at a few other establishments and it seems to have only a faint citrusy aroma. You might fool me into thinking it was lemonade. Very odd for a beer, that it only has a citrusy aroma... even among wheat beers.
Taste is the most disappointing aspect of this beer. It’s nearly flavorless without the lemon. Even Budweiser’s Michelob version of the Hefe-Weizen is closer to a real wheat beer than this. I know this is not strictly a hefe-weizen (as the bar tender said) but it doesn’t resemble any wheats I’ve ever sampled because it is so... utterly... flavorless. What were they thinking? Perhaps they aimed at the Utah 3.2% palate all too well.
Mouthfeel is very light but is to be expected with the style.
Kudos for making a very "drinkable" beer. You could drink this with just about any food in lieu of ice water. For that matter, why not bring some along when cycling?
Note: at the brewpub they market it to the customer as a hefe-weizen. Nobody has told me this is meant to be a krystal-weiss (besides it is very hazy) nor a Berliner weiss.

On tap at the awesome brewpub in SLC. Pours a clear fizzy golden color with a thick white head. The aroma is tons of sweet malts and banana/lemons. The taste was initially a bitter hop presence followed by a super sweet banana and malt, tons of honey also. Very nice and well crafted.

The aroma is sweet with a hint of citrus, and is usually served with several lemon wedges. The appearance is cloudy gold unfiltered. The flavor is not bitter, real smooth, with a citrus aftertaste, and really seems to coat my tongue with a nice creamy film. This is my favorite of the Bohemian Brewery beers and usually drink a half gallon with my pork schnitzel.
