COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Czech Pilsener (a.k.a. Bohemian Pilsner) is the purest of beers - in our eyes. Clear and golden in color, light and crisp in taste. Our lager is well aged from real Pilzen Malt and actual imported Czech Yeast from Branik - Prague, Czech Republic. Only the finest Saaz hops are used to emulated this outside-of Pilzen, Pilsener. Crafted after one of our favorite Pilsners, Pilsner Urquell - you won’t be disappointed in this true Czech beer. The closest thing to Bohemian Pilsner you can get without actually being in the Czech Republic.

Poured into a pils glass. 2.5 A: Clear medium yellow color. Two and a half fingers of foamy white head. Retention is a bit below average and very little lacing is left. 2.5 S: Dirty herbalness makes this a lot less clean than I like my pilsners. Something along the lines of breadiness, but not less clean. Light grassy and hay qualities. 2.0 T: Less clean than the nose. The pseudo-breadiness is more intense and I don’t like it. Lightly grassy again with some hay. The problem is that the yeast wasn’t allowed to work cleanly. 2.0 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Too thick and muddled and lacking crispness. Carbonation level is fine though. 2.0 D: Not a good beer. Serving type: can Reviewed on: 06-28-2012 23:46:08

June 2010: 12 oz Can (4% ABV) picked up at Ruby’s Inn outsdie Bryce Canyon NP. Sat outside our motel room I poured the can into two toothbrush plastic cups, I had nothing else to use! The beer was a golden pilsner colour (what a suprise) and had a pure white head which gave some good lacing on our plastic cups. My notes mention a good body depth, that the beer had character and good attributes which came through from the start of the tasting. All in all, a good pilsner, as good as many original Czech ones I’ve reviewed anyway.

Slight strange aroma of mouldy cheese. Floral taste with pepper and grapefruit finish. Bitterness lingers. Apart from peculiar aroma, very drinkable.

Can thanks to Dallas. Pours clearish golden orange with white head. Nose/taste of malt, pepper and spicy hops. Medium body.

The aroma is hoppy with a lemony/grassy type of hop and the malt is only slightly sweet. The appearance is golden with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma with an astringent end. The palate is thin but right for the style. Overall I found the beer unenjoyable. It looked nice with a foamy head and the beer seems right for the style but it’s not enjoyable in any way.

Pours golden, topped with the firm white head, looks the part. The nose is floral, orange blossom and a touch of hay. Tastes lightly grainy, biscuity and with a good dose of bitterness, tastes the part of a proper Czech lager. Perhaps a little thin in the body but otherwise on the nail.

Can thanks to Douglas. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated to the edges and laced. Aroma has a nice crispness with some grass hops and a nice hay and grain backbone. Flavor is similar with a nice crispness, light grass hops and a grain and bread backbone.

Pretty. I’ll give it that. But I’m having a hard time getting over the green-apple-yeast flavor that lingers on the tongue after you sip this pint. The taste isn’t entirely off, but you wish the Saaz hops played a bigger role in balancing out this tart bastard. Eventually the flavor fades into a metallic, lemony aftertaste, not pleasant and quite prolonged. Nice lacing down my glass, though.

12oz can.. appears a deep yellow lively white head. nose is a yeasty sweet, lightly crisp and hoppy. tastes mellow sweet, spicy light hops, tends a bit raw or grassy but its light. nice and smooth, its crispy.
