An excellent top fermented ale, brewed according to the traditions you can find in the domain of Bokrijk (Belgium). Second fermentation in the jar.

Bottle in Santa Barbara. Golden pour, white head. Yeasty nose, flavor modest on the esters, a bit grainy and a bit alcohol-forward. Somewhat disappointing, like the others in this series.

Probably the most well-known of the Sterkens ’kruikenbieren’ in ceramic bottles, for the Bokrijk open air museum. Moussy, stable, yellowish head, colour peach blonde, almost amber, lightly misty with some protein flakes. Flowery and fruity aroma of orange, pear, caramel, cheese, butter, wheat, coriander, white pepper, honey, cognac. Taste sweet and fruity, malty, hints of gingerbread, but a bit collapsing towards the end with too much astringent alcohol and too little hops for balance. Maybe the bottle I had was just in bad condition, because I suspect this can be a lot better when younger.

750 ml ceramic bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/10/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big peach, apricot, lemon, pear, apple, honey, candi sugar, bread, light clove, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big peach, apricot, lemon, pear, apple, white grape, honey, bread, candi sugar, light clove, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of peach, apricot, lemon, pear, apple, white grape, honey, candi sugar, bread, light clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity of fruity/earthy yeast ester and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly slick/crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian golden ale. All around great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and pale malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Faint scent of apples, white grape, faint lemon. Tastes a little sweet, but not excessively so. Dry finish. Solid.

Poured from bottle into a tulip, stars with a very generous head which settles down to a thin layer, the aroma is yeast, bread lemon, the carbonation is pleantiful and crisp, taste is lemon, some fruit and spice, the feel is good but more to the side of a refreshing summer beers, ends of nice mild warmth very enjoyable.

"Monsters Edition" enjoyed in Hill Farmsted Stemware at room temperature.

A - Cloudy straw gold, lots of carbonation gushing out of the bottle

S - Bready and honey smell. Not much else

T - Oak and honey at the start. Bready notes and some nuttiness like walnuts. Hints of spices and some herbs. Sweet finish

M - Lots of carbonation, medium body. Bland finish

O - It’s an alright beer. Nothing spectacular.

Bottle. Pours golden blonde with white head. Nose/taste of sea salt, lots of yeast, lemon bread, lemongrass and tropical fruits. Finishes yeasty and salty sweet lemon malt. Body a little watery, but tasty refreshing summertime beer.

One of the beers I’ve had on many occasions and never got around to rating.
2010 vintage.
Just on cool and into a shallow chalice. Gentle pour raises a looming, fluffy white crown that leaves a thick lace. Body a deep orange gold and sparkling with fine, streaming carbonation. Bouquet of tropical fruit esters stabbing at Starburst™ fruit candy greets the nose first. An underlying waft of rose water, Belgian yeast, pear drops, dusty malt and honey joins the pleasantries adding depth. All candied fruit, sweet and tangy, upfront with a light touch of malt and yeast mid-palate before a bitter fruit finish. Mild warming alcohol fades it out with no real length shown. Good body, nice rounded mouthfeel. Becomes drabby as it warms, so a little chill in it might be the way to go. Overall a pleasing, fruity Belgian for the Summer months. 4/30/12. 750mL bottle. Slightly hazy golden pour, borderline orange, with a nice creamy, thick, barely off-white head that laces in big rings. Yeasty, fruity, bubblegum, estery aroma with touches lf light sugar. Slightly sweet entry with plenty of yeast and a hint of sugars, but the mid and finish are quite dry. Lingers dry, slightly fruity, and yeasty. Not bad.
