Bottle from 5K backlog. Pours dark red mahogany. Reddish tan head. Nose and taste of cola, toffee malt, resin, dried nuts and metallic bitterness. Medium body. Finishes slightly bitter/metallic.

Gold pour with tight white head and lace. Caramel malt and resiny hops dominate the nose. Caramel malt, resiny hops, and a nice abv warmth. Medium body with good carbonation.

this was an original release by bold city, quite ambitious .. . deep tan .. . medium foam, light lacing .. . light booze, deep caramel and ovened syrup . . . enjoyable, i’d buy this in sixers every now and again .. . . i’m a hunk?? .. a hunk of what??

Dark mahogany pour, big tan head and good lacing; Roasted malts but could have done without the smokey resin. Finish is bitter.

Tap at Bold City. I am also not a big fan of red/imperial reds and most american strong ales. So BC wasn’t batting to high for me. Metallic bitterness, some sweeter caramel malt. bleh.

Appearance: Dark mahogany with a big tan head and good lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts and mild smokiness
Taste: Roasted malts, caramel with a mild bitterness in the finish
Nice and tasty.

Wow, I got this blind in a shared growler and thought for sure that it was a porter. Roasted aroma and flavor, tangy aftertaste is the only hint of it being a red. Generally dry, with only very light sweetness. Medium-light body. Thanks to LuckyDog for sharing his retrieved growler in the Friday Meeting.

Pours a murky reddish-brown on tap with thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, smokiness, and earthy hops. Taste follows with a decently balanced and bitter finish. Comes off more like a porter than a red, but probably one of Bold City’s best beers.

Pours ruby. Aroma of roasted malts, little smoke, mild sweetness. Taste is malty, with a good balance of sweet and roast. Mouthfeel is thicker than expected. Good stuff.

On draft at brewery, poured a dark brown color aromas of coffee, molasses, nuts, and some light chocolate. Flavors follow suit, more roasted malt than a traditional strong ale, but interesting none the less.
