This is not your standard Red Ale. This is a very ‘malty’, ‘roasty’ and complex Red Ale. The roasted flavor comes from the high presence of roasted barley. With a very minimal but high alpha hop addition, this Red Ale has become a favorite among patrons.

Hoppy, brown sugar, molasses aroma. Dark color, almost black with red hints. Minimal carbonation, syrupy on the palate.

Very roasted smell, having right after flight of the conchords concert in st Augustine...taste is also roasted... that’s the whole taste though...no depth, but smooth

Keg at the brew pub , 19/02/15. Reddish amber with a moderate beige covering. Nose is biscuit malt, dark fruit peel, light spice, faint cocoa, earthy. Taste comprises nutty tones, caramel, cocoa powder, fruit rinds, light spice. Medium bodied, fine caebonation, semi drying close. Mediocre for style, thinnish and delivers little for the ABV.

Pours dark red almost brown with a white head. Malty aroma. Taste the same with caramel notes and brown sugar. Little hop flavor. Very nice red ale.

Draft. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average fizzy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted dark malt with a sweet alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium roasted sweet flavor with a medium roasted sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer.

Decent beer...not very red ale. Poured brown red. Lots caramel and roasted malts. Heavy and sweet. A little chocolate comes through in taste. Bitter finish.

Taproom, pours clear dark red/ brown with off-white head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and light fruit. Taste is coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Medium light body with a sweet finish. Name throws you off as its not really a red ale.

On tap at Pele’s Wood Fire Pizza in Jax. Milky cocoa porter tang. Then sweet caramel. Dryish finish. Strange. Little cherry. Little charred. Interesting enough. 7.0

From the tap poured a dark amber color with a good amount of head. Strong malty sweet flavor with a lingering aftertaste.

Draft at the brewery The ale poured a deep red color with a thin creamy head and no lacing. The aroma was of chocolate, and molasses. This is a nice red ale with a deceptive alcohol of 8%. The medium body ale had soft carbonation. If you have a chance to taste their beers try this one.

32 oz. growler from drowland- thanks, Dr. Owl, for this toob of random garbage! Shared this growler with Dan and Caroline. "Not your standard Red Ale" - quite obvious on the pour, which is basically brown, with a small beige head. Notes of big toasted malts, dry cocoa, grainy cereal- very simple and malty, and it seems like maybe a wide variety of malts were used. Makes sense, if they’re nowhere near matching color with name on this one. Medium-bodied, with a dry, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Weird beer but not bad.
