Tap at The Independent (small beer bar in The Loft across the street from Kickbacks), Jax, FL. The pour is an unclear redder orange with a thick, creamy, off-white head. Very good retention. Layers of lace remain. Nose is practically non existent with no aromatic hops. Perhaps white bread and cracker malt. Taste is actually a bit sour up front then moving to quite the heavy body with lots of buttery oatmeal and English maltiness. Practically no hop character save for small English balancing hops. Palate is soapy and watery. Rye component is near impossible to distinguish. No prominent hoppiness/bitterness. Comes across as English golden ale.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
10/25/12. 128oz growler from the brewery - my first from a year of free growlers! Hazy orange pour with a nice khaki head that sticks and laces plenty. I was told this just went on tap today, so it’s fresh, and I can tell in the aroma. There’s a really nice fresh hop aspect and a definite spice kick. The flavor is lightly bitter and hoppy, slightly fruit, with pine and citrus, and another definite rye spice kick. This is tasty and goes down too easy. I dig it!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gold pour with a creamy white head and lace. A dry rye start with a medium maltiness and a decent citrus bitter. A slight medicine. Thin and fizzy but kinda tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft at the brewery, pours a light orangish copper color with aromas of rye, citrus, pine, and light caramel. Flavors follow suit, a light spice in the aftertaste from the rye. Decent beer overall that I would drink again.

On tap at the brewery. Burnished golden color with a thin lasting off white head. Sharp citrus hop nose with some raw grains tones. Lots of hop flavors with red grapefruit, apricot and apple sauce. There is a strong grain feel with course bread and tea. Full flavored beer that was good with the burger.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly hazy golden orange on tap with white head and moderate lacing. Aroma of earthy, piney, and citrus hops, with a slight rye note, and lots of pale malt. Taste is mostly the malt with a hint of rye and a slight bitter hop on the back end. Not very exciting, but very easy to drink, which seems to be the theme with Bold City beers.

On tap at brewery, pours a hazy orange with a thick white head, the aroma has some citrus mixed in with a tad bit of heavy malt that kind of threw me off a little bit, the flavor has a decent hop front with some citrus in the finish as well, decent.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at a local crap bar. Murky brown pour, no head. Soapy, bitter, pine, rye. Medium body and an abrupt finish. Meh.
