Draft. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average fizzy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted dark malt, vanilla with a sweet bourbon aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium roasted sweet flavor with a medium roasted sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a better beer.

Draft...RBWG 2013… Dark brown ale with ruby highlights and no head. The aroma is a blend of caramel, toasted oak and vanilla. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and stale carbonation. The flavor is lightly acidic, offering notes of sourmash, vanilla and caramel. Tangy, acrid finish.

On draft at Bold City for RBWG. Pours a hazy red-amber with a white head. Nose is huge booze notes, vanilla, and some light malt. Flavor is similar with big vanilla, malt, and bourbon notes. Light in body and boozy as all hell, but the beer mellows out the bourbon, so some mild red ale comes through. Weird, but interesting.

Draft at CCB during Hunahpu Day 2013 - one of the first beers of the day. Pours a deep black body with no head, light lacing. Aroma is straight bourbon - too boozy. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of bourbon, oak and light chocolate. Overall, way too much alcohol in this one.

On tap at the brewery RBWG. Pours clear dark brown with a thin off-white head. Pleasant Bourbon aroma.sweet, just enough bourbon to add some complexity.

Tap at Bold City. I mistakingly assumed that this was an imperial stout when I was drinking this. I could not believe how thin and un-stoutish it was. I eventually figured it out when I saw the sign that said RED ALE in front of me. Did not care for this like most of the beer I had at Bold City. This brewery kind of reminded me of NC brewery. As in, nothing was really impressive. Passable beer, but with all the choices out there, I would never choose to drink it. Nice people though.
