This is a fairly mild hefeweizen. They obviously used the right yeast but the banana and clove is pretty mild. Easy drinker.

Part of a flight at the brewery. Very hazy, light yellow pour. Aroma of some citrus and definitely wheat. Light flavor. A little too light for my taste, but easy drinking and refreshing. The lady liked it for sure.

Draft. A cloudy thick looking yellow pour with a white head. Wheat in the nose. Wheat taste with sweat fruits and spices. Not my style but it is enjoyable.

Draft… Murky, pear-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. The aroma is full of all the standard hefe phenols and esters – fruity, bready and spicy. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with tingly carbonation. Fruity, lightly sweet and gently bitter. Finishes crisp, astringent and dry.

Very cloudy, grainy with some phenols but not alot of hefeweizen character.

Large glass at the brewpub at the CASK Homebrewers meeting 11/14. Hazy golden yellow beer with a small to medium white head. Good aroma with wheat, banana, and yeast. Flavor is good - has the fruity, yeasty, and wheaty character but not much tartness. Nice medium body. A very enjoyable hefe, but having just returned from Germany and enjoying countless authentic hefe weizens, I didn’t think it matched the German style exactly. Didn’t matter, it was an excellent brew.

Finally a Bold City offering that simply nails the style. Pours a beautiful, radiant, cloudy yellow with a small, white head that leaves some okay lacing and has okay retention. Very nice aroma of fresh bananas, wheat, yeast, missing the spices typical of the style. Only a bit of vinegar in the nose- it must be something with the water Bold City uses but 99% of their offerings get a big apple cider vinegar aroma. Taste reminds me of Franziskaner but lacks the spice complex. Very refreshing, fruity, yeasty. An excellent effort.

I just went through all the reasons I am a big fan of this beer and then the form crapped out on me. Too bad but here are the highlights, great palate and wonderful traditional flavor, not too much fizz, cloudy and bright. Very traditional is my only issue, though I am sure they will spin off from here in the future.Great beer, but who is Fritz?
