Pint at the brewery taproom. A special 10 barrel brew for Thanksgiving. Its billed as an Imperial Rye Pale Ale and that is exactly what it tastes like. Very little aroma, but a good looking beer with a small white head. Thick, chewy and malty backbone with a firm bitterness from the magnum hops. A bit sharp from the Rye as well as the hops. Alcohol not as noticeable as you would expect at 11%, but you can feel the buzz by the bottom of the glass. The flavors stand out individually and each is easily discernible. Not fabulous, but tasty and thoroughly enjoyable after a long day at work.

Pour is a deep copper with decent think white sticky lacy head. Smell is hoppy boozy pomegranate hay. Taste is hoppy bitter up front with a nutty big Roasty malt.

Tap at Bold City. Pours a hazy deep amber with no head formation as seems to be the MO with a lot of their beers save for Mad Manatee. Nose is thick, sugary cherry liquor and grenadine. Taste is very boozy covered up by very bitter, nutty hoppiness and mild chocolate malt. Big smack of vodka on the palate makes this nearly impossible to drink. Probably is much higher than 11% given that after a few sips I felt dizzy and sick.
