3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasted after a bike ride on a hot day. Pours clear straw, a wisp of head. Aroma is richly apple, no obvious granny smith notes. Taste is apple juice, some tartness, some honey. Light, goes down easy.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at RVC. Pours a light, clear yellow. Aroma lightly apple and apple peel. Flavor matches. Just a touch sweet - not that this was sugary, but wasn’t as tart as a lot of the ciders I have had recently. Quaffable, and not at all bad as a simple refresher.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Bold Rock.
To me a very ordinary cider, but I’m not the biggest cider guy in the world. Apple starts sweet, but finishes a bit tart and dry.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the Catawba Valley Biltmore Village taproom. Clear pale golden color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of apples and spice. Light body with flavors of sweet apple and malt. The finish is fruity with a sweet apple cider aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Catawba Brewing in Asheville, this pours just as clarified pear juice into the glass with a wispy reductive head that leaves no lacing. I pick up primarily pears and Golden Delicious apples on the nose. Flavors are almost copied. Lots of pear and not-too-sweet apples, finishing semisweet. Soft, yet active carbonation lends the semi-dry palate to a smooth mouthfeel and easy quaff. I like this a lot.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear 16oz bottle. Virginia Apple cider pours pale yellow, no head. Bright apple flavor, balanced flavor edging to slightly sweet. Not dry thankfully. Easily drinkable and tartness does not build. Drink two or ten, they taste great.
