July 2010: Formally known as Oxfam Bruin, this is a ’fairtrade’ beer with ingrediants from Thailand, Costa Rica and Bolivia. Only available from Belgian Oxfam shops (as far as I know), this one is from the one in Brugge. Brown 33cl bottle (sediment within) poured into my Westmalle chalice. Dark Ruby Red body, clear and clean looking, good covering of a light brown foamy head which left some lacing as the beer was sunk. Very little smell, some roasted malts maybe, but nothing much. The taste was sour at first, some toated malts, hints of coffee and chocolate, slight but just about detectable. A bit thin and lacking in depth for a 7.5% ABV. I’ll not be rushing out and getting a crate full of this, but one is fine.

Dark brown and hazy. Has an off-white head, diminishing. Aroma is malty, caramel, and faint fruity. Flavor moderate sweet, faint acidic, finish light bitter. Creamy texture.

Brown coloured beer with almost no head and lots of sediment. Not much aroma a bit alcoholic. No body, light sweetness, thin feel, Not much carbonation, very flat beer. Maybe a bad bottle? (Bottle 33cl)

Murky brown colour. Intense carbonation. Aroma is very musty. Flavour has lots of cardboard and strong yeast, especially in the finish.

There is something terribly wrong with the flavour of this dubbel. Dubbels are supposed to taste great, this one doesn’t.
