0,2 from NaNiWa, (paired with a double-miso soup :) Small head, decent smell of toffee and toasted bread, but pretty cautious. Taste from the first moment is a big gush of malts, dried fruits and burned caramel, really good, but much too short, very soon gets overwhelmed by a big, unflavored sparkling. Only small hints of malt linger on my tongue before they vanish, just when i decided to continue my (much stronger) soup.

b) Rating from 2008
Trotz Flaschenbier schöner cremiger Schaum. Süßlich-neutraler Geruch.
--> Ein schönes Altbier, schön süffig und aromenreich. --> 11+12+12+12 = 11,85

Lovely amber in colour, scummy foam and no carbonation. Malty aroma very bready. Subtle bitterness followed by rich chewy malts, crusty freshly baked bread. Smooth easy to drink.

somewhat opaque dark brown with light brown foam head. Aroma is bit smokey, which is strange for a German alt. Taste is quite sharp, hay, little woody. (Velp 201311)

Average altbier. A little more tasty and grainy than a usual lager, but not very interesting.

Not the best Altbier. Very light on flavour. Weak malts and bread. Quite bitter in the finish.

Dark red coloring with a stable white head. Aroma is full oft chocolate, dark malt, bread and hints of herbal notes. Finish is dry and leaves a suprisingly empty mouth-feeling. Medium bittering and carbonation.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a light tan head. Smell is roasted malt, brown sugar. Taste is roasted malt, brown sugar, fruit, mild hops bringing about a dry finish. Light body with average carbonation. Not up to Düsseldorf alt standards but certainly drinkable.

500ml bottle from De Bierkoning in Amsterdam. Pours a clear, ruby-amber colored body with a finger-width, creamy and frothy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, bready caramels with a touch of toast and a slight cherry dark fruit note. Maybe a hint of roast and toffee. Flavor is similar. Slightly sweet and toasted caramels with some toffee notes and a light roast touch throughout. A few dark fruits towards the end before this finishes dry and lightly bitter with a slight sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent Alt. On the sweeter side, but balanced enough to keep this easy drinking. Not bad.
