BlackHaddock (3500) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2012
My favourite Alt beer when I lived near the brewery, well before BA’s came into being. I was very pleased to see this and the Ur-Alt for sale at ’Beers of Europe’ and ordered some straight away. Brown 500ml bottle, best before 5th Jul 09, drank 16th Mar 09. Poured into my old Bolten Alt 0.2 litre tankard three times, how we have both missed seeing it full of Alt. Beautiful deep amber, nut brown colour with a huge foaming off-white creamy head. The beer is clear and just a joy to see again. Never had a big nose, it however does possess an aroma of malted barley and hops, just enough to let you know you have a very good Alt in your hand (if you were blind and couldn’t see). The taste is also wonderful, a mix of malted biscuits (unsweetened), toasted brown bread and lightly smoked ham. I must admit it seemed a bit thinner than I thought I remembered, so its body let it down a little. Good flavour retension though, so it isn’t weak, just lacking that inner strenght I can recall. Very drinkable and I’m very glad I found it again.

Bottle from the legendary Kris Wines. Deep brown color with a medium off-white head. The nose is malty caramel, harvest fruit, nuts. The taste is light sweet maltiness, simple and pretty much what the nose suggests. The finish is lightly bitter. Oxidized. The body is light medium. Carbonation quite active. Overall, not great. A bit boring, the oxidization doesn’t help either. Bottle not finished.

Countbeer (4316) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAR 4, 2012
Bottlet: Medium vast white head that disappears slow, on top of a clear dark ruby colored beer. Smell skunk, weed, older hops, manure, strange smell. Taste barleys, light caramel, some malts and older hops. Not much else Barley malty herby aftertaste. Low to medium carbo, light creamy mouthfeel, low body and a texture between creamy and watery.

Embrouille (2823) - SWITZERLAND - NOV 20, 2011
Bottled 50cl. Ordered from www.bierzwerg.de. It pours an amber beer with a bubbly beige head. Breadcrust, malt, honey and boiled vegetables (DMS in this top fermented beer?). Good bitterness. Dry finish. I was expecting a better Alt.

kuphish (380) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - NOV 7, 2011
Bottle. Mahogany body is clear with a fluffy, large, tan head on top. Leaves a thin bubbly ring with fair lacing. Lightly toasty, malty aroma. Bready, biscuity flavor with a hint of toffee and floral hops. Medium-light body borders on thin. Sweetness balanced by a firm bitterness. Medium carbonation and somewhat minerally. Lingering bitterness. Pretty good Alt.
