Imperial Cascadian Dark Ale
Imperial Cascadian is the NW style of this brew. This is a very well balanced, extremely hoppy black ale. It is very reminiscent of a winter ale. Armored fist is a collaboration beer brewed with the good ole boys from Three Floyd’s Brewing out of Chicago.

Deep hazy Amber/copper/brown, with a thin sticky light beige head. Roasty dark and piney dank aroma with a hint of cocoa and bitter grapefruit. Nice grapefruity and roasty flavors compliment nicely, with grapefruity/piney bitterness taking the lead, a fair dose of roast and light earthy cocoa soon following. Bitter but balanced and appropriately roasty. Loads of grapefruit.

Draught @ Whats Brewing - Friday Session 2, Stavanger
Pours dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, orange and chocolate. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate, caramel, citrus, orange and grape finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Draft pour. Cola brown. Faint cream tan head. Aroma is faint roast and pine. Taste is assertively piney with hints of roasted malt and booze. Like chewing on a roasted pine cone. Chewy, sweet, boozy.

Flight pour on tap at the brewery tap room (Bend, Or). Pours a deeper dark brown carmelized chocolatey hue. Dark, decent haze and mellow toasty hues into the edges and bottom. Frothy firm light brown head atop is sizable, firm and cakey. A good glow and healthy darkness. Aromas are a bit toasty, firmly bitter, big grapefruit and subtle gumball tropical appeal. Some toast, earth, firmer florals. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, mellow toast, carmelized malt and subtle toasty lifem big grapefruit, florals and grapefruit. Some tropical appeal, good hop profile with some subtle medicinal appeal. Big hops, fruity but an odd mesh there at times. Backend is toasty, carmelized and a touch brash. That hop profile is potent and fruity but it just never meshes well for me. Bitter, citric, and lots of pithy and rind oil grapefruit as we finish up with toast, subtle medicinal feel. An odd ball. A potent, top tier hop progile just doesn’t mesh well for me into the backend and finish.

On tap at What’s Brewing Beer Festival 2015, Stavanger. Pours dark brown with brown head. Aroma of pine needles. A bit too dominated by hop bitterness, almost no malt aroma. Bitter finish, thin bodied.

solid black ipa - not a standout, but nice roast/grapefruit combo that worked well.

On tap at Hops and Pie poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, grapefruit, pine and light earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, grapefruit, pine and light earthiness with a smooth dry bitter lingering roasty grapefruit finish.

Sampled at GABF 2015 with Andrew and Paul. Pours a dark black body with off white head. Aroma is fresh hop - fruity and almost funky. Mouthfeel is medium with bright pine and citrus. Super faint roast character - essentially none. Great black IPA.

On tap at chucks hop shop. Aroma is kinda blah, just not much to it and muddled. Flavor is pretty interesting and strong. Tart in a strange but kinda good way. Nice chocolate in the finish.
