4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From growler filled at Boneyard. Wonderful taste, and I didn’t know about the 3 Floyds connection until I viewed this beer’s ratings. No wonder they have a couple of Dark Lord Day posters in the tasting room. A truly wonderful quaff from a great brewery!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Taphouse Grille, Seattle
Black color with creamy beige head. Elegant aroma, fresh, with a touch of roasted malt, coffee, carobs, jasmine. Good body strength, yet the mouthfeel is lean; the dark malt and chocolate flavor is nice, and it has a mild, pleasant degree of acidity, that blends well with the resiny hops.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from the tap at ABV in Hillsboro. Aroma is very sweet. First sip is like sweet and tart cherries. It tastes like it is barrel aged. The roasty malt is nice and helps even out the beer. Finishes crisp and bitter. Very different CDA.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
With my eyes closed not sure i could tell this was a dark IPA--which to me, not a big CDA fan, is a good thing, Usually there’s a harshness as the dark malt qualities clash with the hops--very smooth here. A little lemon with a rich, woody flavor, light trace of coffee, alcohol rising. Dark brown but not black, off white head, My favorite dark IPA.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from tap to glass. Dark hue with reddish tint and brown creamy head that lingered. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, melon, pear, papaya, ethanol. Mouthfeel is great with a medium body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry with a nice hop bitterness that dominates the following and blends with an ethanol finish. Overall this is a really nice CDA.

Black and unexpectedly delicious
. Has a complex vinous taste that I didn’t for see, as all other CDAs have been hovering around the drain in my experience. Quite a gem.
