4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Golden hazy body with a tall frothy head. Big notes of fresh pine and citrus rind. Sharp stinging peppery hops upfront that are pummeled by an juggernaut bready malt backbond. Lightly sweet cracker component with a bit of caramel sweetness and maybe some biscuit quality. A real murderers row of fresh grain character. Sticky hop concentrate presence with a plethora of subtle fruit notes and a sharp oily pine character. Smooth velvety mouthfeel that really rounds out its intensely aggressive razor sharp bitterness. I drank a full gallon of this stuff last week. Damn good.

Growler. Tropical fruit hop aromas. Clear amber pour with a white head. Crisp and clean with mild tropical fruit and grapefruit hop notes. Good balance with a sturdy caramel malt backbone. Not overly bitter with an above average mouthfeel and body.

From a growler brought back from the Bend brewery. Hazy deep orange amber with a short lived sandy head. Tons of citrus hop aroma and flavor. Mostly grapefruit and tangerine. Plenty bitter and also lots of body. Definately a Double and very tasty. Surprised to see the ABV at nearly 9

Draft at NWIPA in Portland, OR on 2 June 2013.
Pours an golden amber colour with a thick white head. Strong floral and citrus hop aroma. Grapefruit and resin hops grab the tastebuds, but are offset by the sweet malts and warming alcohol.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice surprise on tap at Three Floyds. Pours a burnt orange, almost amber, color with a finger and a half length off white head. Smells of resinous grapefruit and pine, as well as sweet carmel malt, some tangerine notes, maybe some tropical fruit notes. Taste starts with resinous hop characteristics. Get grapefruit rind, some orange peel, classic west coast pine, as well as some grassy and floral notes. The middle brings even more resinous qualities, but also starts to introduce the sweet carmel and bready notes to balance it. The finish is quite nice. The hop qualities are still there, but not as bitter, just resinous (if that makes sense). Just get great hoppy fruit flavors with a sweet carmel backbone. Grapefruit, mango, pine, tangerines, sweet bubblegum. Pretty full body with a creamy and oily mouthfeel. No alcohol to speak of. Definitely bitter like a west coast ipa should be, yet never gets abrasive and out of control like a lot of them do. Very hoppy, yet extremely balanced. Really, really good.

Towards the end of the night I wanted a light beer to ease me down. I picked this one, 9% alcohol. Most excellent.

Draft at Taphouse in Seattle. Copper pour with little head in a pint glass. Big floral aroma with definite light sweet citrus. Flavor follows aroma exactly. Slick but pretty easy drinking with medium carbonation. Solid brew!
