RPM IPA should break the hop tachometer! Pale in color with pineapple and citrus notes exploding from the glass. Boiled and dry hopped using 4 Northwest hop varietals. Prepare yourself for a wild ride…Rev it up with the RPM IPA!!!

I asked for something nicely hoppy, but on the light side and was handed this beer. The aroma certainly has a solid, expressive hop character to it. The beer has a head that is a pale tan color, and a body that is a copper / gold color. Specific aromas of grapefruit zest, a light herbal character, and some fresh pine needle notes are all here. This has the characteristic hop aromas of an old school IPA (from the 90s), but the hop volume has been turned way up and the malt dialed way down. As my nose adjusts the aroma gets more floral, more peach like, and with more tropical overtones; in fact the peach and tropical notes seem to dominate after a bit, and it may be because I have cleared some headspace in my glass.

The beer is nicely bitter, quite light bodied, and definitely on the dry side of the spectrum. Ample grapefruit zest notes, bitter, pithy pine notes, and a peppery woody note all linger on the palate. The light body really helps to keep this eminently quaffable, probably too much so. Despite the strength, the lightness has me thinking Pale Ale, but with a turned up hop character. As the beer warms up it gets a touch more floral and tropical fruit like; peach, lychee, tangelo zest, and lingering guava notes are here, but there is also just a hint of a more dank, herbal side of the hops that is peppery, perhaps a bit chive like, "hemp" like, and with a woody pine like note.

A really nice hop bomb, if it had a touch more sweetness the flavor would be absolutely exploding with expressive hop fruit character; the latter is my preference, but I am still quite enjoying this beer.

Tasted on February 16, 2013: A: Light amber color. Head of foam non-existent(shitty pour). S: Slight citrusy hop smell. Mostly malty. T: Medium hopiness. Slight citrus notes and pine notes in the end. M: Leaves a very enjoyable aftertaste that I can’t describe. Medium heaviness on the tongue. O: An alright beer, but nothing to brag about and barely and hop character. Serving type: on-tap

Draught at Quinns capital hill. Pours crystal gold with a fantastic lace and a soft head lasting. Aroma is perfect floral and soft tropical fruit on a milky caramel. Flavor is just barely bitter spruce and greens at first before a longer but balanced cleanly bitter end. Feel is very soft and full yet light. Basically perfect.

On tap at Hopvine Pub in Seattle for the fall hop harvest IPA fest. Aroma has mild herbs and sour fruit notes, flavor is quite balanced - sweet and bitter. Relatively long bitterness in the finish.

Hazy yellow. Faint lacy white head. Fruity, stiff aroma. Cool palate. Citrusy taste with a blonde ale malt backbone taste. Much better at 50 deg. Satisfying, medium light amd a little sour.
