3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A tasy IPA, pinapple, grassy and bitter hops, malty brown sugar, citrus- lime and lemon, papaya. A tropical, but one dimensionally bitter ipa. It despite the color, looks like a clear, beautiful IPA, I want to drink. A little just plain bitter with not enough flavor profile, but overall an upper-tier go to Oregon IPA. I think that other breweries have caught up with the genius of RPM and that that RPM might have to evolve to keep their best Oregon IPA title.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap. Pours a slightly hazy orangish body with a one finger frothy off-white head that faded to a thin film, lots of lace. The nose is nicely citrusy and juicy with a little resiny hops as well. Some minimal caramel maltiness. The flavor is a little duller than I was expecting, the hops are just not popping out at me. A little caramel sweetness on the finish. Rather light bitterness given how nice and hoppy the nose was. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Shorter finish than I was looking for. Kind of let down with this one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ Uber. Pours pale orangish golden with thin creamy white head. Aroma is a hint of malt and big grapefruit and pine hop notes. Taste is crisp light caramel malt with lots of fresh earthy hops on the finish. Nice citrus and pine from the hops - good flavor without being overwhelming. Very drinkable for a hoppy IPA.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Light, hazy golden, bright white head. Aroma is honey, citrus, grass. Flavor begins with pine/resin bitterness, which leads to softer, pineapple and faint mango, ending in dry, grainy sweetness and a light bitterness that tapers off. Everything I look for in an ipa, tons of hop flavor, ample bitterness without being overdone, medium-light malt backbone that supports without contributing too much sweetness. Dry without being overly so. Definitely a benchmark west coast ipa.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft pour at taphouse. Amber pour with average white head. Very hoppy. A little sweet for me, but its mostly what I look for in an IPA. Good stuff.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at APEX in Portland, OR on 22 May 2013. Poured a hazy orange with a scummy white head. Hoppy aroma with grass and citrus at the fore with some caramel sweetness. Fresh hop flavours; nice grapefruit and Seville orange mixed with biscuity malt. Palate was very bitter resin, marmalade and dry grain.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Drinks like a double ipa. I don’t knw the ibu or alc content, but this is a big beer. Big carb bite and citrusy hop punch with full body. Can’t go wrong, excellent brew!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Eastside Clube Tavern, Olympia WA
I asked for something nicely hoppy, but on the light side and was handed this beer. The aroma certainly has a solid, expressive hop character to it. The beer has a head that is a pale tan color, and a body that is a copper / gold color. Specific aromas of grapefruit zest, a light herbal character, and some fresh pine needle notes are all here. This has the characteristic hop aromas of an old school IPA (from the 90s), but the hop volume has been turned way up and the malt dialed way down. As my nose adjusts the aroma gets more floral, more peach like, and with more tropical overtones; in fact the peach and tropical notes seem to dominate after a bit, and it may be because I have cleared some headspace in my glass.
The beer is nicely bitter, quite light bodied, and definitely on the dry side of the spectrum. Ample grapefruit zest notes, bitter, pithy pine notes, and a peppery woody note all linger on the palate. The light body really helps to keep this eminently quaffable, probably too much so. Despite the strength, the lightness has me thinking Pale Ale, but with a turned up hop character. As the beer warms up it gets a touch more floral and tropical fruit like; peach, lychee, tangelo zest, and lingering guava notes are here, but there is also just a hint of a more dank, herbal side of the hops that is peppery, perhaps a bit chive like, "hemp" like, and with a woody pine like note.
A really nice hop bomb, if it had a touch more sweetness the flavor would be absolutely exploding with expressive hop fruit character; the latter is my preference, but I am still quite enjoying this beer.
