COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The latest addition to Boneyard’s growing family of beers – a 14-percent imperial stout, dubbed Suge Knite, and pronounced just like the infamous gangsta rap producer – is the Evander Holyfield of ales: a serious heavyweight. Inspired by another oversize stout, the Dark Lord, from Indiana’s 3 Floyds brewery, with whom Boneyard Brewmaster Tony Lawrence previously collaborated on Boneyard’s Cascadian ale, Armored Fist. Suge Knight is a massive beer that Lawrence said took some real coaxing throughout the brewing process. The result is a near masterpiece that is proving popular with people who might not usually reach for a Russian stout at the end of their shift. Stay stout, Bend.

On draught at Roscoe’s Stout Summit 2/23/13. Caramel, chocolate aroma. Semi-sweet chocolate flavor. Warming effect, but not as intense as the 14% ABV would let on.

On tap @ APEX. Black in color with a khaki head. Pretty roasty and sort of burnt. A lot of licorice and maybe some tar. Kind of bitter and slightly ashy on the tongue. A really nice roasted quality and slightly burnt. Some creme brûlée, licorice, and some earthy hops. Pretty intense dark fruits to it as all. Not bad.

Tap (TCBW15)
Black, tight tan head. Rich burnt aroma, I hope it’s not too burnt and ashy. Palate kinda thin and flat. Burnt taste, some acidity from that. Covers the alcohol brilliantly though, but it’s a very one dimensional beer. It’s just burnt, that’s it. Whatever.
