COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The latest addition to Boneyard’s growing family of beers – a 14-percent imperial stout, dubbed Suge Knite, and pronounced just like the infamous gangsta rap producer – is the Evander Holyfield of ales: a serious heavyweight. Inspired by another oversize stout, the Dark Lord, from Indiana’s 3 Floyds brewery, with whom Boneyard Brewmaster Tony Lawrence previously collaborated on Boneyard’s Cascadian ale, Armored Fist. Suge Knight is a massive beer that Lawrence said took some real coaxing throughout the brewing process. The result is a near masterpiece that is proving popular with people who might not usually reach for a Russian stout at the end of their shift. Stay stout, Bend.

On draught at Roscoe’s Stout Summit 2/23/13. Caramel, chocolate aroma. Semi-sweet chocolate flavor. Warming effect, but not as intense as the 14% ABV would let on.

Toronado Seattle. Quite pretty dark pour with really tall, retaining tan head. Tons of banana, vanilla. Delicious, smooth, lots of banana on top of bitter chocolate. Quite delicious and a little rough, which I like. I dig it.

Hyvin viinaista. Ohut suutuntuma. Terävää, pehmeä maltaisuus puuttuu täysin. Pienenä annoksena ihan jees mut nopeesti alkaa tökkimään.

Black with light brown head. Melon, banana and coffee. Burnt malt and coffee, not as special as nose. Odd.

On tap @ Toronado Seattle. Pours thick super dark brown with thin oily mocha head. Aroma is big sweet milk chocolate, heavy boozy bourbon and port notes, tons of dark fruit - figs, plums, raisins. Taste is likewise - rather watery body given the huge depth here, dark roasty malts and espresso flavors are much stronger here. Finishes boozy and bitter, though oddly still seems smaller than the massive 14% abv. Some huge, delicious flavors here, though lacking the overall balance of top tier imperial stouts like Abyss, BCBS, etc.

The rare occasion where I try the barrel aged version well before the regular, and didn’t even realize it. Draft at Toronado for their Boneyard night. Near black pour with a cool, chocolate, sweet aroma. Flavor is a little lighter than I expected in an imperial stout, but overall the flavor is there and good. Such cool lingering flavor, oak to pair, with a slightly empty cool finish. Overall a unique, quite enjoyable imperial beer here
