Bottle, 22oz. It’s an unclear one, brown in color and with a small, beige head. The aroma has a little sourness, not of the malty side, more lemony, with roasted malts, coffee and a boozy hint. Some oak hints. It’s full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. Roasted malts, coffee notes, chocolate, oak and something lemony in the flavor. Lasting finish with some alcohol notes and a more distinct whiskey touch than initially. Quite nice this one, although not a winner in my book. 141024

Bottle @ home, courtesy of arminjewell. Pours a deep brown appearance with a dark brow head. Burnt, a bit smoky dark chocolate, marshmallow, whiskey, a bit woody aroma. A bit thin, somewhat fruity, dark chocolate, very roasty, vanilla, slightly charred, a bit boozy flavor. Ok.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, some slight oak, whiskey booze notes, slight chocolate, decent but a bit boozy, some ashes. Taste is a mix of slight whiskey, hints of oak, lots of dark chocolate, vanilla, roast, hints of earth, spice, slight coffee, finishing fairly bitter, dry, but a bit thin. Decent.

Draft - pours dark brown - sudsy, soapy lace - when cold, the vanilla in the base beer works pretty well with the oak and whiskey imparted by the barrel - however, as it warms, the base beer proves to lack the heft and complexity to stand up to the barrel treatment - the beer becomes thin, the wood too overpowering and bitter, and the whiskey too boozy - kind of weak, but has redeeming qualities.
