Inspired by a mythical, giant-killing soldier we’re tempted to say this gold medal winning pale ale will slay you with its palate-boggling depth of flavors and surprisingly dry finish. Bet we’re not big on wordplay or swordplay. So we’ll just let Silvius speak for itself.

Bomber bottle. This beer seems to be overly carbonated. The malt flavor is decent, hops are weak but present. Kind of a soapy aftertaste. Tasted much better in my opinion on tap. Then again I had a 9 beer flight there so my taste may have been off there.

25.4 oz corked and caged bottle purchased at MGM Liquors in Golden Valley, Minnesota. The pour is a clear golden orange with a crackling two inch off white head that falls with loose bubbles. The aroma is soft clove Belgian yeast, toasted cracker malt and a bit of fruit floral hop. Some flat grass present as well. The taste is a pleasant blend of the clove Belgian yeast, the malt and dry floral hop. The palate is light to medium bodied, high carbonation level and a dry finish. Clean, easy drinking beer.

Tap at the brewery. Amber/copper in color with minimal head. Slight cloudy nature. Aroma is relatively muted. Taste has a slight grain quality with hop notes towards the end. I get a little sourness which doesn’t belong. Bitterness lingers. Actually grows on me with additional sips. Relatively straightforward. Kind of boring.

Sampled at Northgate Liquors MN beer tasting. This was a bit muddled overall, but had a decent clean taste to it.

Draft at the brewery. This seems a bit "off" right from the beginning. This has the same soapy impression as the wit, if a bit less noticeable. The mouthfeel isn’t substantial enough, and it generally comes across as a starter homebrew. (#5697, 8/31/2014)

Tap at Minnesota State Fair, Land of 10,000 Beers section. Light caramel, a smidgen of fruitiness in aroma. Cloudy dark copper brown color. Muddled fruit, a little bitterness. Thin-medium body. A bit flat, flavors don’t really develop into much of anything.

Tap. Pint glass. Light copper with small white head. Weird aroma, and taste has an off sourness and bad beer taste. Dissapointing.

6/06/13, On tap in a shaker pint at Famous Dave's Calhoun Square. Color was appealing golden, hardly any aroma. Very Miller Lite like which is SHOCKING for a Belgian Style craft beer. No head on the pour. Off night, pour, keg, batch? Extremely mild. This is a pale ale for light beer devotees. The beer is adequate but not inspiring enough for me to order another. Final verdict: Meh... ---Rated via the Gridfather
