750 ml bottle thanks to tripplebrew, happy for the opportunity! Hazy copper in color with thick, full white head after a slow poor into a lager glass. Excellent retention. Nose is mostly a Belgian yeast and undefined fruit notes. Taste is bread malt with fruity undertones. Wheaty yeast and some light grain. Sweet. Medium in body. Highly drinkable with a dry texture. This would work well as an session ale.

Definitely a Belgian twist on a pale ale. Had on tap at The Butcher and The Boar. It was well balanced and quite tasty. Great Minneapolis brew.

Bottle. Pour hazy amber with a foamy off white head that settles to a thin foamy film. Aroma has scents of Belgian yeast and malt and a faint citrus in the background. Taste is more toasty malt and bread with a gentle floral citrus bitterness and finishes with a touch of pepper. Palate is medium and solid carbonation and ends dry.

Tap at Pig and Fiddle on January 20, 2012, compliments of my home skillet BVery. Reddish brown pour with nice white head. Citrus and light fruit aroma and taste. Just like me with the lady folk, smooth and easy going.

Tap. Slightly hazy orange pour with a white head. Mild aroma of biscuit and almost a light scotch ale character. Medium palate. Taste is mild citrus and hop, and a touch earthy. Overall mild and easy drinking.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 emeinz (212) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 14, 2012
Bottle to glass. Hazy amber-orange pour with generous white head. Aroma has some earthy funkiness to it as well as some light fruit notes. The bottle was a little under carbonated. Doesn’t appear it had enough time to bottle condition. Pretty tasty brew though. I’ll definitely pick up a new bottle. The yeast is pretty cool and unique. A good beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 islay (637) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 8, 2012
16 oz. pour, on tap at Pig & Fiddle in Minneapolis. Light aroma features dry cardboard, peach, and apricot scents. Pours a clear, light caramel color with a small amount of beige head. Similar to aroma, taste is dry with apricot and peach elements. Light toffee, cookie, and cracker flavors. Long, good, lightly dry aftertaste. Light to medium body. Crisp and lively in the palate. Quite drinkable. Overall, Boom Island Silvius Pale Ale is pleasant, but it’s not the most flavorful or aromatic brew, but, then again, that’s the pale ale style for you. I’d call it a solid entry in a boring, low-ceiling style.
