3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 dlinn (146) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 7, 2012
I taste a lot of alcohol in this, though I imagine it is amplified by the hop combination. Aroma is similar... Its a ’medium’ beer in my book.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 adnielsen (6206) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 7, 2012
Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of bnielsen13. Slightly hazy, orange appearance with a big fluffy, off white head. Somewhat floral, somewhat earthy bitter hoppy, a touch boozy aroma. Fairly bitter, soapy, floral hoppy, toasty malty flavor.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ElGaucho (2034) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - FEB 21, 2012
Draft at pig & fiddle. Fresh aroma that has some cask notes. Frothy , off white head with cobweb lace. Hazy, almost murky, dark amber. Somewhat dry and somewhat ordinary. Not bad.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 portableparty (1598) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a large fluffy soapy white head that slowly settles to a sudsy film and spotty lacing. Aroma has a floral fruity scent which is really nice and some what sweet with just a hint of white pepper. Taste is all the above with the hops being bitter and floral and the yeast being fruity and biscuit like with subtle cracked pepper and spice. Palate is full and crisp with a drying finish. The alcohol is very well hidden.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 nsquishee (508) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - JAN 28, 2012
This is a highly drinkable IPA (though I would consider it more of a double IPA)-- Very nice. Thoprock pours a rich, honey-color with tiny yeast suspended throughout. It looks very appealing. Due to the yeast, it has a very active/large, spotty head. Flavors of Belgian yeast, hops, grapefruit, honey, orange, and pine. A very impressive first offering from a brand new Minneapolis brewery. Cheers!

On tap at Pig & Fiddle pours murky orange/amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, and hop spice. Taste similar to aroma with an enjoyable balance of caramel and hop spice. Decent.

Tap at Pig and Fiddle on January 20, 2012, compliments of the beer guru himself - mister BVery. Orangish pour with some head. Citrus aroma and taste was citrusy goodness with the hoppy bitterness taking a back seat. A tasty little morsel of a brew.
