Nate (2195), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 14, 2008 From 325cL bottle, year unknown, at Village Tavern in Hammondsport, NY. Nice funky nose, a bit sour, a bit sweet, with mild oak. Has that nice wild yeasty nose, with a bit of floral-herbal hoppyness; wonderful. Dark amber-copper clear with thin off-white head, a few floaties. Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Starts with nice tart character, fruity with yeasty wild funk, oak and apples, winey. Nice bitter character in the finish but not harsh. Sweet-tart finish, mild and very nice. Very nice faro that seems to have held up nicely. I bought their last two bottles to take home - a steal at $7.50, I thought. gunnfryd (2664), Kristiansand, Norway Apr 23, 2008 Bottle, thx to thewolf, vintage 1998. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, oxidized, fruit. Flavour is sweet, fruit, weak oxidized, yeast, caramel. Nice finish. yngwie (3342), Kristiansand, Norway Apr 23, 2008 Bottle, 25cl, thx to thewolf. (vintage 1998, 5% ABV.) It poured a clear, copper body with a beige head. More head than expected for a 10 year old beer. Sweet, slightly oxidized nose with hints of cellar. Oxidized and sweet on the palate as well, medium fullness, with some fruity notes. Quite weak on the flavor. Oxidized finish. As expected, it was oxidized, but I don’t think that matters in a beer like this. It’s easy to drink, sure suitable for a hot day.
