Faro Boon is een bier van spontane gisting waarbij Meerts bier en Oude Lambiek gemengd worden. De lichtbruine kleur en zoetzure smaak worden bekomen door toevoeging van kandijsuiker voor het bottelen. A beer of spontaneous fermentation, made by the blending of ’Meerts’ beer and old Lambics. The light-brown colour, as well as the sweet-sour character, are due to the addition of candisyrup before bottling.

Aroma: Medium Citrus, lemon, sour. Light barnyard, honey, Appearance: Clear copper body. Small off-white head. Poor head retention. Flavour: Medium-high sweetness, light sourness, fruity, honey, grapefruit, Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium-high carbonation, light tartness, Overall: Too sweet for a lambic. Still an enjoyable beer, maybe a good step for someone new to lambics. 250 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 17E. Gueuze - Faro

Bottle @ Nüetnigenough, Brussels. Pours slightly hazy amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and fruit, with vinous and estery notes. Sweetish, fruity flavour, with nites of malt, caramel and yeast, and some vinous touches. Sweetish and slightly metallic finish. I like it but it appears too sweet for the style, possibly due to the presence of the syrup.

25 cL bottle at home. Pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma is sweet with some apples, a little bit of barnyard and some sugar. Taste is also a bit sweet with some sugar, caramel and a very soft sourness. Medium body and carbo.

25 cL bottle at the M-Cafe in Leuven. Clear amber, no head to speak of. Sweet, smooth and a touch sour, easy to drink. Light fruit aroma, dry and sour. Reasonable example of the style. Fair, but hardly exceptional.

Bottle from Sugaya. Light fruity (grape and berries) malt and sugary nose. Hazy dark copper/brown, with a massive raocky head. Sweet, with a light acidity, mild green apple-like flavors. Finishes with a push of sugar. Medium body. Refreshing at first, but then the sugary sweetness gets to be a bit much.

25cl bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours clear dark brown with bubbly head. Aroma is a sweet precursor to a sickly sweet taste, with caramel, cassonade, marmalade and sweet molasses all getting a look in. Just way too sweet for me.

330mL bottle, pours a clear copper / amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out artificial sweetener and very light funk. Flavour is very similar, with loads of sucralose-like artificial sweetener - a touch of funk in the background. Pretty one-dimensional faro. Drinks easy and inoffensive enough, but not very stimulating.

250ml bottle. Copper-brown amber colour, foamy white head and aroma of lemon, banana, straw & yeast. Taste is sweet, sugary, with syrup, caramel, tart fruit, wood & straw notes. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, lingering sweet finish. Quite OK.
