Rosy-bodied and pink-topped, it’s tough to look manly with a glass of Boon’s craft in hand. Aromatically though, the fruit’s luscious intensity is about as delicate as a jackhammer. Strawberry cheesecake, grape candy, red apple and raspberry jelly; there’s pie crust and peaches, brown sugar and cookies. All this is only meagerly balanced by well-aged hops, but no matter, the variegated fruit flavors are truly inspiring. As for the flavor, imagine The Shining’s elevators spewing torrents of raspberry syrup instead of blood. Surprisingly dry, the fruit is full but not cloying and the fine carbonation adds wonderful texture to the experience. Hints of fig, browned butter, oak and black cherry, a finishing touch of blackcurrant, it’s an impressive brew. If it had further explored those sour notes of leather, this certainly would approach perfection in the realm of fruit lambics. For those outsiders who deem a pink fruit beer girly, let me again borrow from Jack Nicholson’s oeuvre and say "YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE FRUIT!" (01/07/07, 2004 bottle)

Bottle, 2004. A fruity aroma of raspberries, well balanced between sour and sweet, very nice! The head is small, white and fizzy with a short duration. The body is cloudy and brown. The taste is only light sour, fruity and light acidic, later also light sweet. The body is light to medium, dry and light creamy with a lively carbonation.

2004 75cl Bottle from beers of europe. Light reddish-purple pour, the wife (who once worked for a paint company) insists that it’s ’golden brown’ ....hmm...perhaps. Very light pink fluffly head. Very fruity aroma- baked apples, pears, peaches, raspberries, black cherries. Good, tart aroma with the obligitory barnyard funk. As other posters have stated this certainly has a perfect sweet and sour combination with a notable fruit balance. The mouthfeel creates the impression a whole load of raspberries has been squashed against the roof of my mouth. Very finely balanced finish fluctuating between sweet and a pleasant tartness. Cracking stuff.

750 ml bottle marked 2006. Dark purple color with a medium white head, scant lacing. Lots of fruit in the aroma, with an edge of dustiness. Flavor starts sweet and stays sweeter than expected, with not much complexity; nice dry finish. Decent body. An OK framboise, if you like them on the sweet side.

Pours a light orange hue with a sustaining thin layer of white foam. Nose is apples, pears, peaches, big barnyard funk with a slight lactic sour kick. Flavor is light fruits and beers up front followed by a bittering and lactic sourness thy quickly fades, a bit of funk and grassy chalk fills out the drying finish. Medium body, watery thin texture, mild carbonation. A solid fruit lambic with lasting tart puckerness but short-lived fruit flavors, good example of the style.

75cl, vintage 2004. 1000th rating. Murky muddy red, tiny mostly fading light pink head. Juicy, raspberry seeds aroma, sweetish old raspberry jam. Very full flavor, sweetish and intensive old raspberry juice, a little tart, but feels sweetened. A tad short finish with mild funky pepper tang and minty coins. Hasn’t picked any cellar. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. With the sediment in this even got some notes of a flemish red, with a firm mouthfilling palate and sweet berry flavors. Lovely, it really shows what this stuff is made of.

75 cl bottle. 2004 vintage. Dark red with orange-brown tints, and a tall, fine, head. Jammy raspberry aroma, rather tart, lactic and creamy, with a bit of funk. Very tart lambic with raspberries and cherry, creamy, vanilla and some nuts. Just a bit of horse blanket. This has a perfect sweet and tart balance. Just a bit of sweet fruit under a hugely tart base. Smooth, creamy, rich body. Really wonderful.

1997 Bottle thanks Joe for sharing at SDBF’09. Ruby amber pour with light white foam. Surprisingly sweet and fruity in the nose 12 years later. Raspberry jam flavors, sweetness becomes slightly more tart towards the bottom of the bottle. Well done brew.
