Schroppfy (1733), Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2002 Updated: May 24, 2003 Rerate: Smooth as a baby's bottom, only a hint of the super sourness associated with lambics. Fantastic accompaniment to a Wes Anderson Film Festival me and the Mrs. were having tonight. Seek out this beer. Up .1 to a hair under Muzzle's enumeration. Original: 750 ml, also 1996 or 1997, as per Muzzlehatch. Had a 'best before' date of Oct 2001. This is a really wonderful lambic experience, in my book. The color is a murky dark brown, with a lasting pink head. Nose is a perfect mixture of some gueze sourness plus cheesiness with moderate raspberry. Taste is also appropriately mellow; sure, it's tart and all, but not over the top. Alcohol, at 6.2%, is not at all noticeable. Full in the mouth, far fuller than other Framboises, methinks. A great experience all around. I can't wait to see what yeasty surprises await at the end of the bottle. I got two of these from Matt at Liquidsolutions.ws.
harrisoni (5359), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 11, 2008 Bottle at EBF 08. Thanks Jacob. Haze, orange red. Perfect aroma of raspberry. Just like raspberry jam, without being too sweet and then in mouth..... dies in the mouth, bit too sweet. It’s ok, just not fresh enough for me and a tad too sweet. sunevdj (1482), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Sep 27, 2008 Bottle @ European beerfestival 2008. Pours a hazy red-brown with a tiny head. Sweet with some bitterness. Strong aromas of not entirely ripe raspberries... nice. Tiny funghi hint. Nice dry finish with a bit more raspberry aromas. Dedollewaitor (2166), Odense, Denmark Sep 25, 2008 75cl bottle: Vintage 2004. Hazy reddish amber with a fine white head. Wauw... tart, sweet, juicy, sticky, crisp, dry, raspberry. Wlell balanced. Really nice retired lambic from Boon! Adenila (687), Denmark Sep 20, 2008 Rating #24from the european beer festival 2008.
One of the best brews of the evening and certainly a nice suprise to find this one on the festival. Has a great hazy red towards pink look. Fine sweet rasberry aroma along with some sour eartheren notes. Light white sugery taste along with tons of ras sweetness and a well put tartness. Was perfect at the time, and so good that i had to try two samples! cgarvieuk (2539), Edinburgh, Scotland Sep 5, 2008 hazy red brown, only every so slight woody nose, little tart nice body if not over complex, not oversweet huge rasp finnish
