3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JAXSON (356) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 10, 2010
Small pour at Lambic Summit event. Of course it’s trendy to dismiss this among the 3 Fonteinen and Cantillon offerings, as the previous rater predictably did, but in doing so one looks beyond the merit this beer offers. Pours a cloudy deep maroon. Nose of rich, seedy raspberries. Jam-like and really full. Much more naturally sour than the Boon Kriek given the nature of the fruit used, which makes the beer much more palatable. Really full-on seedy raspberries in the mouth. Pretty decent balance between sweet and tart elements. Certainly not as dry, sour, and complex as the unsweetened lambics at this event, but pretty good still. Finish is a bit weak. The best of the three Boon offerings at the summit.

[Lambic Summit] Murky red color with a small, pink head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of wood, raspberries, light wild yeast, and some leather notes. Taste of tart raspberry skin, sweeter berries, overripe fruit, and a tart finish. Better than the kriek, but not saying much.

Bottle pour at Lambic Summit. Dark red pour with some pink head. Sweet raspberry aroma. Still sweet flavor not over the top, but again not tart. Better than the boon kriek, not by much. Earlier Rating: 8/10/2009 Total Score: 4.4 1997 Bottle thanks Joe for sharing at SDBF’09. Ruby amber pour with light white foam. Surprisingly sweet and fruity in the nose 12 years later. Raspberry jam flavors, sweetness becomes slightly more tart towards the bottom of the bottle. Well done brew.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (3433) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 10, 2010
A big step up from the kriek but still not too great. It has a pithy raspberry flesh and raspberry seed nose. Taste is cheesy, a bit funky, full of seedy raspberries. Palate is a bit metallic, a little acedic. Decent- reminds me of Lindemanns.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 abemorsten (1201) - Randaberg, NORWAY - JUN 8, 2010
Bottle @ Brewpub Copenhagen courtesy of tarjei. Pours clear red with a white head. Aromas of raspberries and faint alcohol. Drinks acidic with more of the raspberries coming through. Dry palate. Light to medium body.

Very nice. Not too sweet. Has a very nice raspberry aroma. Pours a dark red, almost purple with a small pink head. The flavor is tart raspberries. Crisp and refreshing. Mine was ice cold on a 90 plus hot humid day and it went down real easy.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ryan82SM (754) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUN 4, 2010
The oak really shows up in the aroma, along with tart raspberry. Appearance is murky reddish brown with lightly carbonated head. Flavor matches the raspberry of the nose, but tones down the oak and finishes tart. Palate is fizzy. A less sweet framboise with some real points of interest.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sepia5 (203) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 26, 2010
This is a difficult review for me because I’m so unfamiliar with decent framboise, but here it goes. Pours a dark brownish red, about the color one would expect of pureed strawberries or raspberries, and produces very little head. Dark sediment is apparent. Nose is sweet fruit and slightly vinegary. Very refreshing flavor that is pretty straightforwardly raspberry, and accordingly is slightly tart. The thing that I really enjoyed about this beer was that it tasted very fresh, and not at all artificial. Clearly very well crafted, but I don’t have many reference points to go by.
