Framboise Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh raspberries (25%) and wildcherries (5%)are used for this Lambic beer. Framboise Boon is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses. NO artificial sweeteners, flavourings, preservatives or colouring agents. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name.

Pours a clear deep ruby red with two fingers of frothy loose pink head, receding gradually to half that and no lacing. Nose is intensely fruity, tart raspberry and apple, with some background musty funk. Taste is similar but with surprisingly little sweetness and a dry finish. Mouth feel is medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Quite pleasant. The low sweetness makes this something one (well, I, anyway) could drink a lot of.

2012 vintage. 375 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a tulip glass. Pours clear ruby with a moderate pink head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves no lace. The nose has a huge raspberry character, along with dark cherry and touches of balsamic vinegar, earth and funk. The flavour is mildly tart with a huge amount of raspberries, a touch of cherry for complexity, cherry pit, earth and perhaps some lemon. The finish is moderate in length and fruity-tart. On the palate it is medium in body with a slightly dry texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a decent framboise with a nice touch of sour cherry for complexity. 2014-04-23

Looks like cheap alcoholic grapejuice that’s pale plum color instead of vibrant. Smells like holy water (pronounced brass and water + minerals and dirt) mild wine. Taste starts dry and finishes thblat way muddled with spent, tart green grapes despite the red color. A foul beverage to be sure. There’s really no point in it.

It pours ruby coloured, with dark reddish highlights; the head is very pale pink and foamy. The aroma has notes of: sweet malts, raspberry pits, slight barnyard funk, and slight vegetable quality. The taste is medium heavy dry with a medium sourness; there are notes of: raspberries, lemon-juice, and a slight pepper. The palate is medium bodied, has medium carbonation, and a medium finish. Overall, a wee bit too dry for the flavour profile.

Pours a deep rich raspberry red, with aroma notes of freshly picked raspberries and some tartness. Tasting notes is a powerful tarty blast of fresh raspberries, some sourness, and a slightly bitter finish. This is most excellent!

This is pretty tasty. A great mix of sweet and sour, both in aroma and body, with a nice pink appearance. A bit sweet but quite great.

Pours sangria red with no cap. Aroma stomped raspberry. A brisk opening on the tongue. Tart is turned up to 7. Sweetness is dialled down to 1. Example of how tart <> sour. My sentences are short today. Like Hemingway. So there.

Much less sweet than other framboise beers I've sampled. But necessarily more sour, if that makes sense. A more adult lambic.
