Framboise Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh raspberries (25%) and wildcherries (5%)are used for this Lambic beer. Framboise Boon is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses. NO artificial sweeteners, flavourings, preservatives or colouring agents. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name.

Bottle, 2012 edition. Dark red with a small pink head. Raspberry, cherry, wood, light grain, light dusty. Medium body, oily texture, medium carbonation, medium sweet and light/medium sour. Long light sour finish lifts the early and mid palate sweetness. Really refreshing and drinkable and less sweet and more punchy than the Boon Oude Kriek I had recently.

Deep red color . Smell and taste of raspberry. Pleasantly sour. Might just be the perfect beer for the coming summer.

Licht rood bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is zuur met framboos en citroen. Minder geslaagd dan de kriek.

Single bottle from the LCBO and my first Boon brew. Best before date is Nov 27 2018 written on back label, but not sure this one is not infected. Smell like wet feet and the flavour is not really good (yes, feet again). Alright, there is a bit of what is expected like some sourness, some sweetness, Belgian yeast and some light tartiness. Clean deep copper-red colour with a pink frothy head, average retention and minimal lacing. Of course, this one does not list sugar in the ingredients like some of the Liefmans, so maybe this is what a more natural fruit lambic should taste like. Just a little too unbalanced for my taste. Thankfully does get better with time, but still nothing to save this one for me. And I love lambics.

375 mL bottle. Pours medium dark red with a pinkish cap of foam that disappears. Aromas of raspberry and other red fruits, lemon, a hint of grain and mild yeasty funk. Fruity sweetness cut by good acidity. Rounds out on the dry side with a touch of yeast bite. Light bodied with full carbonation. Kind of one note.
