COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Raspberry lambic was once a rarity and only produced for a few weeks during the summer. Frank Boon was the first brewer to again prepare a raspberry lambic in the summer of 1976. More than 300 grams per liter of fresh raspberries give Framboise Boon a fresh fruity taste. The young lambic supports the flavor. But this is very much about raspberries, not the lambic. Of course we do not use artificial flavorings, only real raspberries. Boon Framboise has an alcohol volume of 5%. Drink it when it is young.

Rosy-bodied and pink-topped, it’s tough to look manly with a glass of Boon’s craft in hand. Aromatically though, the fruit’s luscious intensity is about as delicate as a jackhammer. Strawberry cheesecake, grape candy, red apple and raspberry jelly; there’s pie crust and peaches, brown sugar and cookies. All this is only meagerly balanced by well-aged hops, but no matter, the variegated fruit flavors are truly inspiring. As for the flavor, imagine The Shining’s elevators spewing torrents of raspberry syrup instead of blood. Surprisingly dry, the fruit is full but not cloying and the fine carbonation adds wonderful texture to the experience. Hints of fig, browned butter, oak and black cherry, a finishing touch of blackcurrant, it’s an impressive brew. If it had further explored those sour notes of leather, this certainly would approach perfection in the realm of fruit lambics. For those outsiders who deem a pink fruit beer girly, let me again borrow from Jack Nicholson’s oeuvre and say "YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE FRUIT!" (01/07/07, 2004 bottle)

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2016 Mooi helderrood bier met babyroze schuimkraag. Vineus aroma, ruikt als een goede wijn. Lekker zoet maar zeker niet té zoet. Confituur, framboos, snoepjes. Afdronk beetje droog met héél klein zuurtje. Lekker !!

Sampled at Beertemple. Clear red pour with a light pink head. Smells like a sweet raspberry syrup. The taste is dominated by raspberries. A bit too light bodied and sweet.

Great initial smell of raspberry but has a surprisingly light finish. Ruby pour with good pink head and lacing. Some light citrus. Light tang on finish but generally a little empty. Light palate. Bottle from 2013.

375ml bottle. Pours deep blood red with pinkish head. Aroma is bright raspberry pips and berry pulp. Taste is wonderfully fruity with a smooth, oily mouthfeel, very lightly carbonated. Sourness seems restrained, would’ve liked more of an edge to this, but it’s refreshing and fruity, if a little too slick.
