Kriek Mariage Parfait is an Old Style Kriek of exceptional excellence. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a strong Lambic of spontaneous fermentation and aged on 6,200 litre oak foudres (large wooden casks) for 5 to 6 months. Kriek Mariage Parfait is naturally clarified and referments in the bottle. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavours, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle and enjoy this epitome of traditional Lambic brewing.

Bottled 2009: Very very dark ruby purple color with a light pink head. Aroma is mostly cherry, leather and wet basement, and still pleasantly floral. Flavor is strong, tart cherries with a sweet creamy finish like frozen yogurt. Crisp and clean, medium mouthfeel with mild carbonation. Really good- will buy again

Quite a nice lambic. Iíll be the first to admit that it isnít my favorite beer style, however with this one you get something pretty complex. More like a dry champagne than a beer, but the sour bubbly fruit notes are quite nice. This was a 2011 vintage and I was amazed that the bottle said it could be stored until 2032! Worth trying once.

Bottle at JFís, cheers to James, 19/07/13. Lightly hazed cherry red with a medium sized crimson head that retains well. Nose is burnt cherry dipped straw, soured cherry drops. Taste comprises tarte cherries, light smoke, straw, burnt grass, damp cherry sherbet. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, refreshing cherry finish. Decent.

Bottled. Poured rich, deepet garnet with a dusting of pink-tinted head. The aroma picked up rich chery meat and a bit of leather topped by cherry vinegar and woody notes.. more funky as it warmed.. really nice. The flavor found tart cherry skins, vinegar, and oak on the tip of the tongue.. pale malt and a bit of cherry meat supported.. finished sour and funky with lots of acidity. Medium-bodied with just the right carbonation.. very sour and bracing at times.. very lovely and well-balanced overall.

Iím more of a gueuze man that kriek man.. A preference i think i share with Frank Boon as he makes much better gueuze than Kriek in my opinion. A corked and caged 37.5 bottle, 2011 vintage poured into my trusty ZBF 15cl tasting glass. My bottle pours pretty flat, deep red colour makes it look like a red wine.. a light chilled one. It could be me or it could be bottle but the aroma doesnít jump out at me as per other old krieks. Taste is sharp, bitter and very nice indeed, but by no means the best of Boon.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2015 2008 bottle. Deep dark red with a medium pink head. Aroma is funk, cheese, acidity, cherries, cherry candy. Taste is cherries, cherry jam/cherry pie filling, with the right amount of cheesiness and funk. Finish is sour and dry. Medium body, a ton of carbonation (a little too much). This is a really good kriek.

375ml Bottle - A rich red in colour. Cherry, blackcurrant, almonds and some musty hints in the aroma. Fruity, tangy, sweet and tart taste with rich notes of cherries, strawberry jam and almonds. A class act.

37,5cl bottle. 2011. APPEARANCE: deep red beer, stable red head. NOSE: sourness very prominent, lots of cherries, wood, some horse blanket. TASTE: very intense cherry taste, sourness is there, but not at all overruling the sweetness, itís very good balanced. Some alcohol noticeable though. Very good beer!
