Kriek Mariage Parfait is an Old Style Kriek of exceptional excellence. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a strong Lambic of spontaneous fermentation and aged on 6,200 litre oak foudres (large wooden casks) for 5 to 6 months. Kriek Mariage Parfait is naturally clarified and referments in the bottle. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavours, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle and enjoy this epitome of traditional Lambic brewing.

37,5cl bottle. Pours a cloudy dark ruby colour with a big pink head. Quickly vanishing foam. Wonderfully complex aroma: lots of cherries, hay, flowers. Lightly sweet, moderately acidic flavor, becomes moderately sour. Taste is definitely more complex and warming than other krieks, probably due to higher ABV. Acidic, pretty dry finish. Very nice cherries presence. Medium body, lively carbonation. Awesome

Bottle at Akkurat. Deep red color, pink head. Aroma is very fruity with cherries (of course). Flavour is very fruity, and it becomes slightly sweet at first (if compared to other krieks) but it ends dry and sour. Refreshing carbonation.

Deep dark red with a pink head. Lots of cherries, but they arenít very sour. Still manages to give you that nice cheekdrying feeling though.

375 ml Bottle from Tanakaya. 2007 vintage. Drank with Sakiko on Valentineís Day with chocolate fondue. Lovely, fruity aroma of yogurt cream, almonds, cherry. Deep, beautiful crimson with a fine, fluffy, cyclamen-in-snow head. Slight sour flavor with lactic notes, nuts, leather, and less cherry than the nose, but they are there. Strong lambic character, lots of leather and barnyard, with underlying fruity sweetness. Excellent. A mature, adultís kriek. Did not come across as sweet as many other people here have said. †

Bottle. 2008 vintage. Poured into a tulip glass a bright, vibrant red color with a pink collared head. Very funky aroma with an underlying sweet cherry note. Some wood as well. Light mouthfeel with good carbonation. More sweet than I was expecting. Slightly tart cherry. Iíd be interesting to see if this would sour up with some time onas of now itís just more sweet. Slight medicinal notes.

375ml bottle. Pour is a darkish ruby red with a quickly diminishing head of pink foam. Aroma is filled with funky sourness but the cherries are also a big presence. The flavor is nice, upfront bubbles and tartness instantly clear the palate, then the cherry flavors linger, not sour, not funky, just cherry. Iím happy with the aroma, but I was looking for a bit more funk to the flavor. Itís even a little sweet at the end, which is a surprise.

8 Just inhaling the freshly poured beer is an end to itself. The light fruitiness is beautiful, but the sharpness of the lambic fills the nose and goes all the way down the back of the throat
4 Deep red, brief head
8 Slightly bananaey retronasals. Very gentle malty body, just light grains, and a very subtle cherry component.
4 Refreshing palate, pleasant carbonation.
15 Absolutely lovely lambic, beautifully crisp. Refreshing, and giving no clue to the strength.

2008 vintage. HUGE thanks to jkane101 for the hook-up! A- Uniformly translucent fushcia body with vibrant color. Pours with a 1 1/2 finger soapy light pink head. 1/2 finger retains nicely. S- Nose is slightly sweet but vell balanced. Vinegar comes through the most initially as well as a slight acidic tartness-but the rest of the characters rush in quickly-oak, vanilla, sour cherry, and slightly sweet cherry. T- Cherry, oak, vinegar and vanilla come through initially. Finish is slightly more tart than initial flavor-but with a similar profile. The tartness lingers slightly more than the rest of the profile-but nothing is overpowering and amazingly all the initial flavors linger slightly. M- Well done. Smooth, slightly yeasty medium wieght body with soft carbonation. D- This is a very good, well balanced lambic overall. Certainly one of my favorite krieks. This was a nice surprise as well as I wasnít expecting this brew to be SO good. Would love to have this again! Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-25-2010 02:23:31
