Kriek Mariage Parfait is an Old Style Kriek of exceptional excellence. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a strong Lambic of spontaneous fermentation and aged on 6,200 litre oak foudres (large wooden casks) for 5 to 6 months. Kriek Mariage Parfait is naturally clarified and referments in the bottle. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavours, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle and enjoy this epitome of traditional Lambic brewing.

Bottle shared wit father in law, 2008 version. Dark ruby color with small pink head that dissapear quickly. Smells sour cherries. Tastes cherries offcourse and sweeter than it smells but it stings at the back of the tounge at the end. Long lasting nice finish. Very dry.

Bottle. 8.0%. Vintage 2008. Best before 28.10.30. Pours a murky dark burgundy with a diminishing pink head. Tart/sour, but smooth aroma, with a cherry note, horse blanket and a hint of pineapple. A more general berry-note as it warms. Well-balanced. Flavour is tart/sour, with cherry and pineapple. Bitter and sour finish with pineapple and a touch of coconut. Lingering dryness and a light apple note. Overall pretty good; well-balanced, and the tart-/sourness isn’t too intrusive. The cherry isn’t that outspoken, but I think it might have been cloying if that had been the case; the subdued cherry notes makes for a more balanced brew. The pineapple and coconut notes were a bit of a surprise though – but not bad. 07.03.14.

Pours a dark burgundy with a medium pink head that adheres quite readily to the glass and provide really nice lacing. Nose is of cherry meat and pits, not too abrasive with acidity. Taste is of cherries and really light funk, really classy. Tart but not overdone. Mouthfeel is lean, carbonation medium. A top tier kriek for sure, yum!

Bottle at home. Deep red pour, fizzy pink head. Tart cherry aroma. High carbonation. Slightly sweet, tart cherry taste. Carbonation is a bit to high in my opinion, but still a really tasty beer.

Bottle at home (2012). Pours dark ruby red with a large pink head that quickly disappears. Sour aroma of cherries and earthy wood. Sweet cherrie taste with a nice long sour aftertaste. Quite good, but apparently even better when aged.

2009 bottle courtesy of the slovak sniper. Dark, ruby pour, with a big thick pink head. Huge aroma of vinegar, funk, wet hay and tart, sour cherries. Pefrect carb and mouth feel. Finish is not as tart and sour as you might expect, but its still very nice. Loads of cherries and funk. The alcohol is nowhere to be found. Great stuff.

Small corked bottle, 2011 on the neck. Burgundy body with a medium pink head. Aroma has tart cherries and some light funk. Medium sweet and tart taste with lots of cherries indeed. And some cranberry. Not as acidic as I feared it would be but on the other hand not notably complex either. Alcohol is totally covered. I’m not ashamed to admit that I like sweetened Lambics just as much and on some occasions even more.
