3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 crowderm (315) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 5, 2010
Clear reddish pour with a foamy pink head. Aroma of cherry candy or cherry sorbet. There isn’t much else there, but it smells delicious. The flavor is similarly one dimensional. There is a hint of wood near the finish, as well as a nice tartness that helps balance things out, but flavor is dominated by sweet cherry. No hint of alcohol whatsoever. Mouthfeel is very smooth, but also features some nice prickly carbonation. Very easy drinking, pretty tasty.

Pours a lovely clear but dull ruby with a thin ring of pink foam - no lace. Aroma is cherry candy, pure and simple. Subtle sweet cherry flavour with light oak notes, mostly in the finish. Hint of sourness, sweetness prevails but only in perfect balance - nicely done. Snappy carbonation without being bubbly, decent body. This is a well-executed but slightly dull cherry beer - very drinkable but not particularly engaging.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 AndrewC (256) - Canterbury, Kent, ENGLAND - JAN 25, 2010
2008 vintage bottle in the Man of Kent, Rochester, UK. Light cherry flavour with hint of sharpness that was quite refreshing. Really quite drinkable (if you’re into that kind of thing).
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 Travlr (4518) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 5, 2010
Bright red color with a big cumulus-style head and great lacing that lasts forever.
Aroma of cherries, obviously, but also citrus.
Much sweeter start than the bottled version, but has a slightly sour edge and a dry finish. Lots of fruit.
Good body for the style.
Nice enough kriek, but stick to the bottled Oude Kriek if you don’t like the sweet stuff.

Bottle ( 375ml - corked & caged). Shared with blankboy and garthicus. Hazy cherry red, average white frothy head. Aroma of cherry syrup, lemon juice, funky yeast and mild raw wool. Taste is much sweeter - mostly sour cherries in syrup, a bit of lemon juice. Average body, strongly carbonated, moderately acidic - a sweet aftertaste. Nice, wasn’t overwhelmed by it.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 garthicus (2006) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 4, 2010
Thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing with Blankboy and I. Appearance: Light cherry colour with a thin but lasting small white head. Aroma: Mild under-ripe cherry with yeast & salt. Flavour: Delicious. Beautiful ripe cherries, nicely carbonated. A lovely vanilla & cherry blend. Very pleasant, with a long light cherry finish.

Not too sweet, light and fruity. It is not my cup of tea but something easy to start with for a kriek.

Amazingly rich cherry flavor. Not much lambic evident, not very sour at all. Great real fruit flavor, though not great as a lambic. At least it doesn’t taste fake.
