Bottle. 2001 vintage served in 2008, today. Pours a light brown body with strong ruby/purple hues and little off white head that leaves in a hurry. Aroma is sweet cherries, tart, some woodiness, and a bit of funkiness. Soft and chewy on your tongue very drinkable no etoh, some woodiness and faint cherry fruit. No real funk just the slightest bit in the beginning.

37,5 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served cold in a tulip glass. 2005 crop, BB 2011.

App.: Deep burgundy with a large light dirty pink foam. Aroma: Slightly medicinal sweet cherries, ammonia, light funk and a touch of sourness. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate carbonation, slight astringency and a touch syrupy. Flav.: Lots of sweet cherries, a touch tart, a bit like cough syrup, a touch of funk; fairly sweet, a touch tart; leaves a bit of sweet cherry to finish.

I expected something a bit crazier ; this was only a slight step up from the alco-pops from Mort-Subite and Belle-Vue.

Clear dark red color, big pink head. Sweet, fruity, fresh cherry scent. Cherry, sweet, sugary taste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. I expected more "seed/pip" taste, this was more like a cherry alco-pop.

Brigadier (1837) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - MAY 12, 2008
375 ml bottle

Looking for something different I decided to give this a try. It has been sitting in my cellar about six months now waiting for the right time. With the chilly weather it seemed perfect. I may be buying more of this (or something similar) in the future for rainy days.

Aroma / Appearance - The deep reddish brown body was free of sediment with a thin white head. The primary nose was cherry liquer and oak. Relaxing a bit reminded me of cherry cough drops like the type you would find in Vicks. It is simple and effective without too much tartness.

Flavor / Palate - There is not much complexity to this beer but that is fine with me. It consists mainly of dry tart cherries with a woody aftertaste. The taste fades fast but in the process dries out the throat. It’s not as spectacular as 3F or Cantillon but at the same time it is a little more affordable. This could be a nice ’test’ lambic if you haven’t tried any before.

lagomswedish (213) - Umeå, SWEDEN - MAY 5, 2008
Bottle shared with Ronald and Carita in Finland. Pours a brown ruby red with thin evaporating pinkish head. Smells of sweet cherry flesh and medicinal cough sweets. Tastes smooth and sugary, with a hint of marzipan and more cough medicine. Smooth balance of acidity and sweetness, but because of this it’s not particuarly challenging.
