Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

Editor’s note: Was 5%.

37cl bottle. Dark ruby pour with a light purple head. Notes of cherries dominate the palate, with additional sherry, caramel and honey and very (and I do mean VERY) subtle lambic notes.

Drinking from a 25 cl bottle. In the aroma cherries. The clear red beer has a medium red beer. In the soft sour taste a nice cherrie taste. Medium carbonated.

This was poured into a pokal. The appearance was a dark hazy burnt red color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Moderate amount of lacing appeared around the glass in a messy sort of way. The smell started off with the sweet cherry side and then opened up into a lighter tart to almost sour underscore of cherries. The taste was mainly the sweet cherries flowing into a delicate sour to tartness of the cherry side. Guess the aftertaste - yup - cherries. Finish is somewhat sticky sweet through the cherries. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light - nice sweet to semi-sour/tart edge hitting my tongue underneath. Overall, damn nice lambic, I know I’d have again.

375 ml bottle. 2014. York Beer and Wine. Hazy, dark ruby colour. Halo of dark pink head. Nose has sweet, ripe black cherry. Cherry syrup. Black Forest gateau. Notes of cherry stone and raspberry ice cream. Barely a trace of sourness. Taste is sweet with a light, stone fruit, earthy dryness. Light body. Foamy mouthfeel. Gets less sweet on the finish. I get how some may love this beer, and I did enjoy the one glass, but overall it’s a bit sweet for me.

Spesiell øl vi fikk når vi ba om en morsom øl. Meget kraftig kirsebær smqk. Utrolig spennende smak.

Morsom øl som ikke smaker øl, det ser ut som rødvin, lukter kirsebær og smaker godteri
