COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

Nice dark ruby red. A very vinous aroma and a subdued tartness. A lot more woody and interesting; more balanced and not overly sweet. Dry finish.

I tasted the 375 mL, 4.5%, 2000 vintage. It had a dry cherry aroma and a surprisingly complex palate. I tasted notes of cherry and other stone-fruits, but also a lemony acidity with a hint of saltwater. The finish was long and dry with a tart acidity.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2003 Medium-bodied, flavorful, good balance of sweet and sour - less Brettiness than in other Boon products, I think.

Nice cherries... I can imagine caesar’s note of marzipan; therewas more than just cherries in the aroma. However I don’t know how marzipan smells... Appearance is dark red; no head at all. Typical cassis looks. Sweet cherries in taste, bit sour. Cassis finish. Okay for a kriek.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2003 Clear red color, with short quickly dying pink head. Aroma of sour cherries, marzipan. Taste is of cherries, not too sour. Crisp cherry finish. Decent kriek.

Reddish artificial colour with a very fine foam. Fruity and caramel aroma. The flavour is quite bitter, a little bit too artificial. The aftertaste is short.

Ernest (6031) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 16, 2002
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2005 Head is initially average sized, frothy, pink, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy red-purple, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread), trace yeast (cobwebs), with a strong note of cherry syrup. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Way too sweet, aroma is somewhat artificial smelling.

Ruby hue. Light band-aid nose. Clinging frothy light pink head. Very nice, not too sweet or sour, delectable. Not as good as the mariage tho...

Hmmm... I think somebody put cough syrup in my glass. Pretty much sums it up: red, cherry, a texture like molasses. I’m going to grease up my bike chain with this one.
