COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

Hands down my favorite of all the fruit lambics Iíve tried. Smells a bit fruity, as it should, but itís not overly sweet or tart. Super drinkable and well-made!

0.33 bottle. Clear, dark crimson color and a small, pink head. Aroma is obviously dominated by cherries and features small hints of chocolate. A sweet and sour taste of cherries - relatively refreshing considering krieks. A medium body, a slick texture, and an above average carbonation. Finish is medium long and not particularly strong. Overall the beer is good, itís flavorful but balanced and unimposing, sweet but not tacky.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Pours clear dark cherry red. Nose of cherry sweeties, fresh dark cherries, hint of chocolate malts. Super tangy, fresh fruit, refreshing, full-bodied.

20160605 Home; 37.5 cl bottle; BB 20200304; Kriek 2015 with 4% ABV: A very red clear beer with a red foam layer, which disappears nearly direct. A really big smell of cherry and framboises (red fruit) and off course a sour impression. The taste is more or less the same, but with an adding of bitter from almonds. In the aftertaste somewhat sticky of the sweet and dryness of the sour. Also the bitterness of almonds stays. A kriek with a good taste, but a too sweetly aftertaste. But still also a wooden smell and taste.

At home, 2014 37.5cl bottle. Pour: Dark red, intense. Significant foam, dark red almost purple foam. Initial smell: Fruit, fresh, mild. Intial taste: Sweet, well rounded fruit, mild. Slight tart finish. After breathing - First: Fruit, sharp, slight tartness; mids: jello, gummybears, acid; after: slight tartness and bitterness, but very limited. Verdict: Very good, much better than the Framboise. But not lambicy enough for me, needs more sour, acid and citrus.

37cl bottle. Dark ruby pour with a light purple head. Notes of cherries dominate the palate, with additional sherry, caramel and honey and very (and I do mean VERY) subtle lambic notes.

Drinking from a 25 cl bottle. In the aroma cherries. The clear red beer has a medium red beer. In the soft sour taste a nice cherrie taste. Medium carbonated.

This was poured into a pokal. The appearance was a dark hazy burnt red color with a slim fingerís worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Moderate amount of lacing appeared around the glass in a messy sort of way. The smell started off with the sweet cherry side and then opened up into a lighter tart to almost sour underscore of cherries. The taste was mainly the sweet cherries flowing into a delicate sour to tartness of the cherry side. Guess the aftertaste - yup - cherries. Finish is somewhat sticky sweet through the cherries. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light - nice sweet to semi-sour/tart edge hitting my tongue underneath. Overall, damn nice lambic, I know Iíd have again.
