Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

Rood en een kraag die lichtjes op het bier blijft liggen. Aroma van kersen, maar niet echt sterk en nog alleen als ie niet te koud is. Smaakt vrij waterig, wat zoet en wat vage kersen. Ik ben niet onder de indruk.

Pink/copper, hazy. Medium body, moderate flavor, bright & cool mouthfeel, short length. Sweet & sour, no bitterness. Fruity, yeasty. Like a good fruit juice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 75 cl. bottleThick offwhite froth, intensely red. Intense, sweet cherry. Off dry cherry aroma, medium sour. I expected it a lot drier and more sour, but it is quite well made and harmonious.

Une kriek sur le fruit et la rondeur, une explosion de cerise au nez et une bouche tout en délicatesse. Une très bel accord avec le lapin à la kriek

You shouldn’t expect a sour bomb, but this is a true great cherry sour juice. Very drinkable, sour and sweet, lots of cherry character, one of my favorite kriek although it doesn’t have the strong sour kick.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy pinkish red with a lasting foamy pink head. Aroma is dominated with cherries, some vanilla notes. Taste is all cherries, long sweet finish. Smooth foamy mouthfeel, light carbonation.

Bottle at home. Vintage 2014. Bottle picked up at local Gall & Gall. Dark ruby red with pink head. Cherries, cooked cherries, fresh apples and some dough /cream-cheesiness (probably from the yeast). Little dusty flavors. Overall fruity sweet, no obvious added sugar in the flavor and a very light sour finish. Body is medium, texture is dry, carbonation is average. Very tasty kriek! I think this is the best ’non sour’ kriek I’ve had so far. Edit: Sweetness becomes stronger when it warms up.

Tap @ Beertemple. Pours deep red with a pinky head. Aroma of sweet candy-like cherries, marzipan, fruit yogurt and a bit like a soda. Almost no funk. The taste has cherry, marzipan, vanilla, and a very weak tartness - but mostly like a breezed or something. Still drinkable and nice to enjoy.

Bottle of 2014-edition at Cardinal with BHK 22.12.15. Clear deep ruby. Pink head. Sour aroma and taste of cherries and cherry jam. Also a hint of unripe plums. Dry mouthfeel. Uncomplicated and very quaffable.

For me its a waste of Lambric. Its very smooth and retains some character, but its ultimately boring and comes too close to just being a fruit beer.

37.5cl bottle at home (9 X 2015), shared with friends. This is an archetype. A burgundy to dark red, clear beer with a pink, even purple foam. The looks are somehow artificial, but welcoming for sure. The nose has keen hints of red fruits and sour cherries, vanilla and wood. The mouthfeel is almost creme-like, with a tintling carbonation which makes me think of soda water. The cherries are very present ofcourse, adding lots of freshness to the sweet-sour beer. The vanilla and creme features make it however a dash too sweet, making the palate a that sticky too. The ’foeder’ notes are subtle and levels the artificial tone of this lambic style sweetness.
