Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

Kriek beers are on my list of favourites and although I prefere them kind of sweet, this one is dry and is pretty dem good. The flavor on the moth after each zip is just delighful.

Dark reddish purple. Viscous and syrupy. Nose is cherry cough syrup, almond extract, slightly floral. Taste is cloying sweet cherry cough syrup. A small 2-4 oz. pour with some chocolate desert is about the only context I can see this being very enjoyable.

375ml cork and cage bottle at home in Richmond, as ’Kriek Boon’, 4%, 2014 vintage (bottled in 2016). Dark ruby red, almost opaque, still, dense foamy pink head. Aroma is deep cherry, musty lambic, lemon and lots of sour Haribo Tangfastic sweets. Body is light, a touch frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is sour cherry sweets, cherry cola, pretty syrupy. Like a cherry flavoured faro. Way too sweet. This is quite a depressing beverage because the brewery is actually really good, but this is not. I’m thinking about all the great beers they could have made instead of this.

2014. Pours red with a thin pink head. The cherries are strong in the aroma, with a slight funk and maybe some wood. Quite sweet with just a hint of sourness. Light body, soft carbonation, drying finish.

0,375l Flasche. Tiefrotes Bier mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Riecht nach reifen Früchten, ein bisschen nach Rotwein. Schmeckt intensiv nach Kirsche, leicht süßlich.
