mmm. this beer is so sweet. literally. i really like fruit lambics in general and this is by far my favourite. it has a nice amount of tartness and smells and tastes like real cherries. some might say too sweet but not for me. i especially like the deep pink hue of the head. and the champagne bottle. class all the way.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2007 Bottle (s) at Paters Vaetje, Antwerp. I had a couple over the course of Saturday night. Gorgeous ruby colour, lasting pink head. Dark cherry and vanilla ripple ice cream aroma. Sourness is understated. Creamy but not too sweet in mouth. Cherry fruit is really integrated well. Then finish has some sourness and dry. My favourite kriek. The balance and flavours on this were exquisite. 4.8/5.0 Re-rate. I’ve had the 2004 and 2005 at home and although still good perhaps I have been over generous

Amazing aroma of sour cherries and springtime breeze. Pours a red color with a fizz and presence in the glass that demands you drink it. I couldn’t stop sniffing this beer. Flavor was excellent with a perfectly light palette. I never wanted this bottle to end. It wasn’t at al cloying, and it was pretty dry for a fruit beer, the sour cherry (think cherry pie cherries) dominated the flavor.

Translucent red amber with a thin pinkish head. Soft creamy medium body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: tons of sour cherries, like pie filling. Everything else is hidden.

Taste: sweetness up front, earthy sour cherries in the middle, and a bit of oak and spontaneous fermentation funkiness in the finish.

Wonderful cherry aroma, with a touch of barnyard. This looks like a piece art in my glass. The front of the palate is very acidic and dry. The middle and end are full of dry cherry flavors. The beer is wild and exotic. The beer is suitable before or after dinner. Lots of zip.

poured into tulip. pours a dark red cherry color with full frothy pink head, sweet sour cherry aroma. fizzy carbonated full mouthfeel. very fruity/cherry initial, with sweetness thruought to fruit on the finish and aftertaste. very well rounded and impressive, subtle, straitforward, yet complex.. very good kriek and easy to drink.

Bottle from The Offie, Leicester. Tried back to back with Boon Oude Kriek, and I liked this one a lot better - obviously I like sweeter beers. Deep ruby colour, big pink head. Sour, tart fragrance - quite light. Superbly balanced between sweet and sour, without either being dominant at a particular moment - it's just big flavour and smooth with it. Specks of metallic flavour in the finish, and grainy sweetness. Some prickle in the mouthfeel (especially on the tongue) but largely smooth. Excellent.
