JorisPPattyn (4492), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 2, 2003 (draught of course - is actually the kriek as used by New Belgium for blending 'Transatlantique') Dark ruby-red, nearly purple, hazy. Virtually no head. Intense (sour) cherries, fruit orchard, not very heavy on the horseblanket. Taste is nearly fruit juice, thick and concentrated-like, but fully naturally flavoured. Quite tart, summersun filled fruit. So thick it gets chewy. Yet the adidity from the fruit and the lambic make it quite refreshing. NBB couldn't have wished for a better blending base. MiP (6018), Flensburg, Germany Mar 6, 2008 Cask at ZBF08 as Boon kriekenlambik met schaerbeekse krieken. Nicely sour cherry aroma, not as fat as some. Good sourness to aroma. Beautiful red colour, almost clear. Very small bubbly head. The flavour is nicely acidic, some cherry but owerpowered by the tartness, which is good of course. voota (754), Melbourne, Australia Nov 3, 2007 Deep flat ruby, like a merlot or something. Vineous aroma, quite tannic and fruity (plum) and then some soft funk and acid. Delecate flavour, a bit more wine-like fruity notes and tannin, perhaps some earthy notes too... fantastic balance and complexity, the tartness is a little restrained, revealing a lot more in the beer than some of the other lambics tasted at the WOSF 07’
Great, maybe even brilliant. Magic_dave6 (3975), London, Greater London, England May 31, 2007 Spontanious weekend 07. Second lowest rating of a krieken lambic, i think i like them. Notes are small as i was chattin to so many people. Really dark red/cherry colour. Cherry tart nose. Boon lambic is noticeable with the only of the kriekenlambics that i could detect hops. Mes_and_Sim (4476), Highgate, Greater London, England Mar 9, 2007 A Mes rate:
Draught (of course) at ZBF. Jumped all over this as soon as I saw it and I wasn’t disappointed. Hardcore cherry with very slight alcohol nose. Obviously totally flat. A little darker in the body and as a result looks almost like a red wine. Slight cinnamon detected in both the nose and flavour with the latter being backed up with some balsamic character too. Other than that it’s all wonderful natural cherry flavour with the whole thing in there, stones, stalks, everything. Definitely something green about it. Easily superior to the oude kriek.
