COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is strictly speaking NOT a commercial beer. It is a third running of the lambicmalts, used for blending purposes in order to make faro and kriek. Frank Boon still does it the old way, and consented to have this served, for beerenthusiasts' interest, on the Bierpallieters' festival.
DISCLAIMER: This beer is, repeated, NOT a commercial beer. It is effectively more worts than beer. So, it makes very little sense to claim this beer is not "good", etc.

The reviews below are of the beer tasted young. I tasted a 4% version -- it was a private tasting and I’m not going to say where -- which had been matured for a year in refill Bordeaux barrels, again intended only for blending, and it was now a proper lambic rather than a wort. More or less dead flat, pale yellow, with a very grapefruity, slightly agricultural aroma, lightly perfumed with a pineapple note. A tart and sourish but very refreshing and not oversour palate had mild light grapefruit, a bit of straw and some lambic complexity. A lightly milky, very refreshing tangy mellow finish with perhaps a hint of nuts, and slightly sugary later on. Stuff like this would have been served to farm workers in the region a century or so ago -- the dialect name is one of those beer names meaning ’March’, cognate with German ’Marz’ or ’Märzen’ -- and it certainly would have hit the spot after a thirsty spring morning in the fields.

Starker Karamellgeruch. Milder Antrunk, ein leichtes Karamellaroma ist präsent. Wässrig-süß, etwas getreidig, eigenartig. Wasserabgang mit leichtem Hopfenaroma, weiterhin gut erkennbar mit Karamellnote. Interessant! Test vom 29.5.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: -,9,9,9,-,9 - 9,00

A very interesting brew! a clouded blond beer. Milder than a lambic, lesser in alcohol, more watery in taste at the beginning, but great malty aftertaste. Super!

A lower alcohol versions of his regular gueuze, Pierre was seving this one from two different oak barrels during the opening weekend. One was 2 months old and the other was 1 year. The youngster was bright cloudy yellow with a medium large bubble head that settled quickly. Aroma was lemon, taste was sweet. The 1 year had a few bubbles, hazy, an aroma of lemon rind and both lemon and grapefruit in the taste. Very easy drinking.

Hazy brown of color, no head. An aroma of caramel and chocolate. A flavor with notes of caramel and sweets, hints of thin chocolate. Not sour.

WOSF 07’ Muddy brown with no head. Weak caramel aroma, lots of DMS and signs of heaps of other nasties, its actually quite horrible. Weak, muddy feel in tho mouth... lots of worty sweet caramel and butter. This stuff was pretty bad, but credit to Frank for letting us taste a bit of history.

On tap @ the weekend of spontaneous fermantation 07. Murky brownish in colour. Strong feel of diacetyl with other notes of caramel, candied sugar and honey.

Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation 07. Nose is lots of caramel, not much else. Some honey & sweetness. Flavor is butter caramel, butterscotch. Blah.

A Mes rate: Should this really be on here? Is it even a beer yet? Buttery diacetyl with a thick and muddy body. Was something interesting to try but not something I would want to drink again. It was like drinking a glass of wort. Funny story to tell... My brother tried this and along with everyone else at our large table thought it was pretty awful. Later on while he was down the other end of the table Patrick (sitting next to Frank Boon) passes him a drink (De Troch something or other) saying ’here you go Nick, this is bloody awful, you drink it’. Nick tries it, agrees it is poor but immediately points out "you should try this stuff we have down the other end, it’s f**king rank, everyone says it’s the worst beer they have ever tried, hang on I’ll get you some’. He comes back to our end of the table and asks for the glass of Meertse. Sim gives it him but points out that it is probably best he keeps his mouth shut and explains who it is that Pat is sitting next to. Nick looks up the other end of the table to Pat, pulls a silly face, puts his thumbs up and sits down. Piss funny. The beer was as I say interesting from a geeky point of view. I love Boon and have done for many years. Frank is a very nice guy and a true legend of everything Lambic. Oh and he bought us a beer too. Cheers.

Draught. HAzy brownish colour, no head. Aroma is very much caramel and also some wooden hints. Flavour is carmael, yeast, earth in a very nice way. I guess I’m a pervert since I liked it very much .)
