Bottle at Trappistenlokaal ’t Klooster. Clear orange with a white head. Smells like sodium bicarbonate, salt, citrus, vinegar. The taste follows the same notes, light sourness and barnyard funk. Medium to light body, high carbonation and a sour, salty aftertaste.

Bouteille de 375ml indiquant Millésime 2012. Liquide blond, plutôt mousseux, présentant un goût assez acide, très bien conçu. C’est sec et rafraîchissant lors de ces chaudes journées d’été.

At home, 2012 37.5cl bottle. Pour: medium head, very fast dissipation, golden light yellow, semi-clear not dusty, very flat, low carbonation. Smell: malty, sweet, sour, old basement Initial taste: well rounded, sweet, barnyard, malt, sour, dusty After breathing - First: sour, fresh; mids: sour, slight metallic bitterness; after: barnyard, malt. Verdict: Overall very well rounded and almost champagney in flavour! Will definitely be having this one again, although the sourness is a shortlived one.

2010 Vintage
Tasted on 6/2/16 from a 375mL corked and caged bottle purchased at Midtown. Pours clear bronze orange with a massive white head that slowly recedes to thick, rocky lace. The nose is tremendously complex with tons of burnt rubber, orange oil, an almost rye-like fruit and spice, the very faintest hint of cedar cigar box, and just a bit of some lightly oxidized malt starting to poke through. The flavor is a bit softer than expected with some of the oxidized sweetness of the malt coming through a bit more with some tart orange and lemon zest, along with plenty of funky, earthy, burnt rubber, but very soft and all very nicely integrated. The body is medium with some tannic texture, just under average carbonation, and a long, funky, earthy, and lightly sweet orange oil finish.
