Pours in clear pale body with almost no foam. Aroma is cider like, almost vinegar. Body is sweet, but no bitter. No sure about the balance, as I cannot perceive any. Body is light with no carbonation. Maybe I’m corrupted by Cantillon, but this is far from a good gueuze.

Bottle (2009) from the Bottle Shop, Bruges. Pours a hazy golden colour with a big frothy white head that quickly fades to a light foam. Very tart and sour. Some cider type notes with champagne like fizz. It’s fresh tasting with some woody notes and a dry finish. It’s interesting, but I’m not sure if I enjoyed it or not.

Botella vintag 2006. "Apestosa" y ácida, olor a sidra y manzana, entrada ácida, muy carbonatada, pastoca en boca, retrogusto recuerda a amareto, manzana y vinagre

Bottle. Hazy golden with white head. Aroma is very funky, cheesy, some citrus, musty. Taste is musty, funky, a little shit as in actual shit, earthy. Little sweet and not very bitter. Nice

A faint grassy lemon smell. A very big mix of funky and tart. Very carbonated. Somewhat thicker and foamy. The funk seems a bit off.

375 bottle@ home. 2002 vintage. Pours amber/bronze with a minimal head. Aroma is tart with grassy notes. Taste is really nice! Balanced funk with green apples and hay. Really bitter finish.

2004 Vintage. 750 ml bottle shared at Dave’s tasting. 2007 Vintage. Pours a hazy straw gold with a small white head. The aroma is pleasant enough with notes of sour lemon and earthy hay. Unfortunately the flavor totally falls apart. This beer, or at least this bottle, was well past its prime. The flavor was like drinking an oxidized copper penny. Carbonation and mouthfeel were fine.

Bottle: 2009. Muddled, swampy orange & amber with sunburst trim. Enormous, volatile head, lasts for years even with a soft pour. Aroma contains lemon skin, sour stone fruits, heavy notes of cork, dry oak, & some musty, spiderweb & wet dog funk. Taste is both sour & funky with notes of astringent lemon peel, sour apple, stone fruit, musty oak, some dirty funk, leading to a somewhat acidic, very dry finish. Woody & acidic aftertaste. Funk is not as complex as some other gueuze but the sourness is very nice. Still a very good, available choice.

Drank this one with Thanksgiving dinner this year.
’07 375ml bottle.

A - Pours amber orange with a fizzy half finger tall white head, dissipating down to nothing at all, leaving no lace at all down the glass. Went totally dead pretty quickly.

S - Smells of basement must, lots of damp earth, light barnyard funk, lactic sourness, dash of citric fruit and some wet grass. This one is really earthy with the other aromas bringing up the rear.

T - Starts off with the strong earthiness that never really fades away. The lactic sourness, must, funk, grass and light fruitiness help round it out but the earth is just a little too strong. Finish is pretty dry, lingering long after the finish.

M - Medium body with spritzy carbonation. Not overly sour in the feel, more tart really, with plenty of dryness after each sip.

O - I enjoyed this one but it wasn’t worth what I had to pay for it. I could have gotten a Tilquin for a few dollars cheaper and I would have been just as happy, if not happier. I wouldn’t turn down another but I doubt I would buy any more unless the price is right.
