Black Label:
Clear golden colour with a thin off-white head. Very complex aroma of grass, wheat, coriander seed, a bit of sugars and som skunkyness. Light-bodied; Subtle wheat and floral tastes-a bit flat with some light spices showing through. Aftertaste clean-subtle wheat/geuze characteristics show through with some light sweetness. Overall a nice treat-definately worth trying at least once-even at $25! I sampled this 75 cL bottle from the Brickskellar in Washington, D.C. on 26-December-2003.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2003 Golden color with scads of fish food even though this is a fairly undisturbed bottle. Look somewhat like a beer lava lamp. I am entertained! I could watch this for a long time. Dense off white head with specks of tan. Small lace bubbles all the way down the glass. Pure gueuze aroma with a light malt and tart apple and grape nose. Moderate sweetness hit the lips and gently fades to a mild malt and dry white white existence. Thick smooth feel that is whisk away by the effervescence. Sweeter finish with some light citric flavors. Almost too thick in the finish. Not as much to think about as Hannsens or Beersel, but still quite fulfilling.

Huge foamy head. Sulphur, oak and honey in the aroma. 2000 vintage. Flavor is complex. I taste butter, oak, pine tree, grapefruit and honey. Pineapple and sherry flavors. Some bitterness, and not too sour. I prefer the really sour geuzes, but this one is good. Very complex, flavors come and go as you drink yourself through the bottle.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2004 Vintage 1995. Lemon colored body with a slight haze and copious floating particles. Sweet and musty aroma of a stable (hay and leather), peaches, and citrus. Crisp, refreshing tartness and pleasant bitterness, as if from plum peels. Considerably more bitter than the few other gueuzes that I've sampled. Deep and intense earthy complexity. Very enjoyable.

The big bottle pours yellowish amber with a nice creamy head. The aroma is sour and interesting. The flavor starts out on the malty side but quickly morphs into mustiness, then into an acidic finish. The body is quite light and pleasing. Yes, this is good. It is great before dinner with some blue cheese.

Fruity, sour/tart aromas. Cloudy amber, pours an enormous off white head. Musty fruit flavour, barnyard quality. Extremely dry, tart, acidic, plenty of carbonation. Sensational!

The aroma is sweet and sour with notes of metal, the sourness coming from the wild fermentation and the sweetness from the malt - a very inviting aroma. The color is orange and it has a fantastic head, and is very lively. The flavor is sweet, metallic, bitter, and bitter. It starts out as a sour orange, but then a the flavor of grapefruit takes over and lingers thru to the end. A great Gueueze - but I can recommend sharing a bottle.

Sediment. Good carbonation. Not as sour as I was expecting for some reason. Overall easy to drink; complex.

Bottled: Cloudy golden coloured. Lasting white head. Sour and yeasty aroma. Dry sourness in the flavour. Crisp and fresh. A little nutty in the aftertaste. Nice gueuze

Pungent aroma. A little haziness, looked kind of like iced tea. Not at all sour. Some sweetness. Easy to drink.
