LilBeerDoctor (278), East Setauket, New York, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy light orange with a slight white head. Aroma of sour barnyard funk. Flavor of sour fruits, typicaly gueuze flavor. Not too sour (a plus for me) and very enjoyable to drink. Kind of zesty too! I was pleasantly surprised by this beer, as most lambics are often too sour for my liking. Excellent.
shrubber85 (2414), Wallhalben, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Jul 18, 2008 Bottle. Sour, musty barnyard and leather aroma. Hazy orange/amber color with thin film head. Initially like apple juice but quickly shifts to a light musty malt flavor. Bitter finish. Low acidity and lighter than may gueuzes. Egon (269), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Hazy golden with white head. Sour as a real geuze and quite nice if you like this type of beer. Earthly tones, and horse blanket. 502Flavors (164), Kentucky, USA Jul 15, 2008 375 ml. into sniffer. Sparkling slightly hazy yellow pour with a huge white head. Aroma is strikingly similar to a champagne or white wine, dominated by hints of slightly sour white grapes and soft alcohol. Very very tart flavor that is also very similar to a champagne but with a much much much more funky sour finish. This is my first real geuze, and the style is very unique. It is soft and tingly on the palate like a champagne with very active carbonation. Overall: If you want to have a rounded brew experience, you must try genuine lambics because they are very unlike anything else out there. I am not sure I really have a taste for this style yet, but it was at least something new and refreshing. PilsnerPeter (1322), Flushing, New York, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle: Lively/sparkling hazy golden pour with a thick creamy white head. Musty earthy aroma. Has some barnyard, hay, compost, horse blanket, lemon peel, leather; nice and complex. Creamy and pillowy feel. Flavor has some leather, oak, mineral character, flowery notes, lemon peel, lavender, white pepper and a very brief sweet note. Has lots of late spiciness and oak notes. Has a substantial body for the style, and is extremely complex. Great! Miver (292), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 375 ml bottle. (best by 2025). Poured hazy yellow in color with a thin white head. Aroma is tart, funky, a bit of lemongrass, and earthy. Tastes is of medium tart with brett, lime citrus, earthy and finishes dry. Level of acidity is pretty high.
