COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

2 bottles. Bottle conditioned. Large white head, visible carbonation, golden body. Looked almost like champagne. Raspberries, hop, malt, mint. Bitter and sour. Long bitter finish. Delicious. The champagne of beers.

bottle@bar: bottle says 2007-2008 making this perhaps a 2008 vintage, not sure as to how I should read it, it is good until 2030, amber coloured, decent but not extreme amounts of tartness with some sourness, tastes barnyard, cellar, cemetery,… lemon, fruits, vinegar, sherry wood, white pepper,… medium acidic & dry finish

Bottle. Pours pale yellow with a few bubbles, looks like a cider. Smells like a dirty barnyard, odor is unspeakable. Flavour, once you get past that ghastly stink, isn’t bad. It’s rather like a home made cider, but with a fuller body. Sour finish, rather off seeming.

Bottle @ Cafe Spesial, Bergen. Pours a hazy straw-colored body with a thick, white foamy retention on top. Nose is immediately "bretty"; barnyard funk, acidic notes, hay. Hints of red apples and French "chevre" cheese. Taste is very dry, with crisp, near-parching notes of white wine, cellar mold, champagne yeast and grassy hops. Very low in tartness, the regular citric, sour/bitter taste is nearly completely replaced by a dry, champagne-like profile. Bitter, near-earthy finish. This is by far the most dry geuze I’ve ever tried, and a complex and original lambic. I do prefer them more tart and sour on a personal note, but this is definitely a nice brew from Frank Boon.

Bottle 4 yrs old. Big head, yellow cloudy appearance. Aroma is the horse/stable style with some moderate depth. Taste is clearly funky, brett notes, big wheat/funk aroma with a long finish of sour and refreshness going back and forth.

The beer pours a light hazy gold with a small light white head, not much retention or lacing. The aroma is medium tart, not a ton of funk, slight leather. The taste is similar to the aroma, its medium in funk and taste, doesn’t bring a ton to the table. Its fairily drinkable. Overall, this is ok. Probably a good geuze for a beginner. It gives you a little funk but allows it to be very drinkable.

Bottle at the belgian restaurant near covent garden. Pours a hazy gold/amber, with a thin fading white head. Aroma and taste were very similar, tge sourness blasting through in both, but with some lemon, mandarin, and a light sweet caramel.
