3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 inbirraveritas (712) - Budapest, HUNGARY - SEP 3, 2010
Bottle from "BelgaSörökHáza", Bp.
Poured a hazy, deep golden with an off-white, creamy and laceing head beside fizzy carbonation.
Citrus-fruity and moderated spicy nose.
It begins very sharp, taste’s of lemon and grapefruit.
The tart middle part brings citrus, cereal and spicy aromas along.
The finish is tart, citric, acid and dry.
Body is medium, texture’s slick, alcohol is almost not sensible.
Overall a refreshing and special brew.

As this is my first foray into the odd world of geuze lambic’s, its pretty much what i expected, a very dry saison flavor. tight bubbles like champagne, but the palate is very "fat", not crisp like i was expecting. traditional saison qualities and characteristics. one to try and perhaps as my palate expands with time i might come to enjoy this style, but for now, im not so sure.

375mL bottle, pours hazy golden with a big white head. Aroma of yeast, sour berries and champagne. Flavour is extremely dry yeast and citrus, followed by lots of lingering sourness. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 ricke (476) - Malme, SWEDEN - JUL 16, 2010
Bottle. 2003-2004 vintage.
Slightly hazy golden color with a big sparkling head.
The aroma is mildly funky with lots of grass, lemon and grapefruit to it. A mild acidic note as well.
The flavor is medium sweet and tart with some funky brett, grass and plenty of citric notes - tart lemon, sweet lemon and slightly bitter grapefruit. Hints of wood and mud. The finish has a mineral note to it as well as some malts and grass.
Moderate body, lacks dryness. The mouthfeel is quite a downer.
This is a decent gueuze. Easy to drink yet decently characterful.

bottle at Le Cheval Blanc
Golden pour with a very frothy white head. Aroma of wet hay, wet grass, and some very tart citrus. Not the best lambic i’ve had, but still very good. the tartness is a little muddled, and could be a little more upfront. Maybe its an old bottle and its mellowing. Still nice, but i prefer more funk.
